Dexalot

Dexalot is an order book exchange running on its own chain, built on Avalanche. It behaves like a conventional exchange, with limit orders and a book, but everything happens on chain.

Your address starts with 0x and fees are paid in ALOT, though they are fractions of a cent.

Two things make it awkward to import. Your funds and your trades live on different chains, and most of your transactions are not trades at all.

What you get out of the box

Deposits and withdrawals between Avalanche and Dexalot
Limit and market orders, including cancellations
Fills, including partial fills at different prices
ALOT transfers, gas and fee rebates
Liquidity vault positions

Pick your import method.

On Dexalot

  1. Copy your address. It starts with 0x and is the same on both chains involved.
  2. Add it for Avalanche as well as for Dexalot's own chain. Deposits and withdrawals happen on one, trading on the other.

On Kryptos

  1. Go to Kryptos.io and sign up with your Google account.
  2. From the menu, click Integrations.
  3. Click Add Integration and search for Dexalot.
  4. Click the Dexalot icon, then choose Import using Address.
  5. Give the wallet a name, paste your address, and click Import Your Transactions.

Good to know

  • Placing and cancelling orders are transactions but not trades. Only fills change what you own.
  • You deposit into a balance before trading, so funding and trading show up on different chains.
  • One order can fill in several pieces at different prices, each its own disposal.

Why most of your transactions are not trades

This is where an order book differs from every automated exchange, and it is the thing most likely to produce a wildly wrong report.

On a typical decentralised exchange, you swap. One transaction, one exchange of assets, one disposal. The transaction and the taxable event are the same thing, so counting transactions is close enough to counting trades.

An order book breaks that. You place an order, which is a transaction, and nothing has happened: no assets moved and you still own what you owned. You cancel it, another transaction, still nothing. You adjust your price, more transactions. An active trader can generate hundreds of these in a week without a single disposal among them.

What does matter is fills. When your order is matched, assets do change hands, and that is the disposal. A large order may be matched against several counterparties at several prices, so one order can become several separate disposals with different amounts and different rates.

Get this wrong in the obvious direction, by treating every transaction as a trade, and you turn a modest year of trading into an unrecognisable report with hundreds of phantom disposals. For how disposals are treated where you file, see the USA crypto tax guide or the UK crypto tax guide.

Your money and your trades are on different chains

Dexalot runs its own chain so that its order book can match quickly and predictably. Your funds, though, start somewhere else.

The flow is: deposit from Avalanche into a balance the exchange holds for you, trade against that balance on Dexalot's own chain, then withdraw back when you want the funds out. Three stages, two chains.

Import only your Avalanche address and you see money going in and coming out with nothing in between, as though it vanished and reappeared. Import only Dexalot's chain and you see trades with no explanation of where the funds came from. Neither is a usable record on its own.

The deposits and withdrawals themselves are not trades. They are transfers of your own assets into and out of a place you control them from, and nothing is disposed of by moving them. Our Avalanche integration covers the funding side.

Separating orders from actual trades

An active trader can place and cancel hundreds of orders. Those are transactions on chain but nothing changed hands, so they are not disposals.

Matching funding to trading

Deposits happen on Avalanche and trades happen on Dexalot's own chain. Importing one without the other leaves either orphaned funds or trades with no source.

Handling an order that filled in pieces

A single large order can be matched against several counterparties at different prices, producing several separate disposals from what felt like one trade.

Audit-ready, automatically.

Once your wallets and exchanges are connected, generating a tax report takes a single click. Open Reports from the menu, choose your jurisdiction, and download.

Most of your transactions are not taxable events

Placing an order and cancelling it are on-chain transactions where nothing was exchanged. Only fills are disposals. Treating every transaction as a trade would massively overstate your activity.

Partial fills are separate disposals

One order matched in pieces produces several disposals at several prices. They cannot be averaged into one line without losing the detail.

Funding and trading are on different chains

Depositing is a transfer of your own funds, not a trade. Both sides need importing for the trades to have a source.

Your ALOT balance moves for more than one reason

ALOT pays gas and is also used for fee discounts and rebates, so the balance changes from trading activity as well as from fees.

Read-only by design.

  • Kryptos only ever needs your public wallet address
  • A public address is read-only. It can't move or spend anything
  • We never ask for your recovery phrase or private key
  • Remove a wallet whenever you like, and its data goes with it

If something doesn't sync.

My transaction count is enormous

Order books produce a transaction for every placement and every cancellation. Most are not trades, and Kryptos separates them from actual fills.

My trades have no funding behind them

Deposits happen on Avalanche rather than on Dexalot's chain. Add both and the funds connect to the trading.

One trade appears several times

A large order can be filled in pieces against different counterparties. Each piece is a real, separate execution.
