Why finance teams choose Kryptos over TRES Finance.
One platform. Tax and treasury. Independent by design.
TRES built strong data infrastructure for institutional accounting, and in January 2026 Fireblocks acquired it. Fireblocks also operates Fireblocks Trust Company, a NYDFS-regulated qualified custodian. TRES says it will carry on as a standalone product. Some finance and audit teams still prefer their books at a vendor with no custody affiliation at all. Kryptos is independent and EU-headquartered, files tax across 35+ jurisdictions, and runs treasury on the same stack.

Where Kryptos pulls ahead.
One platform, one price per your entities, with the workflows a finance team actually runs already in the box.
Multi-jurisdiction tax filing
A full tax engine across 35+ jurisdictions with FIFO, LIFO, HIFO, ACB and Pool, not just US 1099 reporting bolted onto an accounting tool.
Published pricing
Our plans and what they include are on the pricing page. TRES is quote-only, so you cannot size it without talking to sales first.
Invoicing, payouts and SAFT
Invoices, recurring invoices, batch payouts and SAFT vesting tracking run on the same ledger as your reporting.
API and MCP
140+ operations through a documented API, plus an MCP server, so your systems and AI agents can pull reports and reconcile inside the permissions you grant.
Independent of your custodian
Kryptos holds no custody licence and never touches your assets, so your accounting and audit records sit with a company that has no stake in where the funds are held.
Support included
Onboarding and support come with the platform, on every plan.
Side-by-side comparison.
Compared for enterprise finance teams, checked September 2026 against each provider's public materials. TRES publishes limited detail and no pricing, so cells marked as not published are gaps in its public materials rather than missing features.

Questions finance teams ask.
Why do teams choose Kryptos over TRES?
Scope and transparency, mostly. TRES centres on data infrastructure and US 1099 reporting, and prices by quote. Kryptos files tax across 35+ jurisdictions, runs treasury on the same stack, and publishes what it costs.
What does the Fireblocks acquisition of TRES mean for me?
Fireblocks acquired TRES in January 2026, for a reported $130 million. Fireblocks also runs Fireblocks Trust Company, a NYDFS-regulated qualified custodian. TRES's CEO said at the time that it would continue as a standalone product with nothing changing for customers, and it has shipped under its own name since. What neither company has published is a data separation commitment. Whether that matters is a call for your audit team. Kryptos has no custody arm, so the question doesn't arise.
Does Kryptos actually file taxes, or just prepare the data?
Both. Kryptos runs a full tax engine across 35+ jurisdictions with FIFO, LIFO, HIFO, ACB and Pool cost basis, on top of the reconciliation and ERP sync an accounting team needs.
Can our systems and AI agents connect to it?
Yes. Kryptos exposes 140+ operations through a documented API and an MCP server, so your own systems and AI agents can pull reports, check holdings and reconcile inside the permissions you grant.
Where is our data held?
Kryptos is headquartered in Sweden with GDPR-native data handling, is certified to ISO 27001 and holds SOC 1 and SOC 2 reports. TRES's trust centre lists SOC 1 and SOC 2, and does not publish a hosting region or a data residency commitment. If an EU counterparty with stated residency matters to your team, that difference is worth checking directly with both vendors.
