Degen Chain has stopped. Its last block was produced on 1 September 2026 and nothing has been added since. Its documentation site no longer resolves, and the value left on the network is measured in tens of dollars.
So this page is about records rather than connections. There is nothing running to connect to.
The DEGEN token itself is a separate matter. It exists on Base as an ordinary token and is unaffected by the chain stopping.

Pick your import method.
Before you start
- Add your Base wallet first. That is where DEGEN lives now, and for most people it holds the bulk of their activity.
- Gather anything you saved from the chain itself: exports, screenshots, exchange statements showing what you paid.
On Kryptos
- Log in to Kryptos.
- Go to Integrations.
- Click Add Integration, then search for and select Degen.
- Click the Degen icon and choose Upload CSV.
- Upload the file. Kryptos reads it and categorises the transactions for you.
Good to know
- DEGEN the token is on Base and is not affected by the chain shutting down.
- Degen Chain's own website still describes the chain as part of the ecosystem. The chain head has not moved regardless.
- Anything left on the chain when it stopped is not reachable.
What happened, and where your DEGEN lives now
Degen Chain was a small network built around the DEGEN token, itself built around tipping inside a social app. It has stopped producing blocks.
This one is unusually easy to misread, because the endpoint still answers. Ask it for the latest block and you get a number and a timestamp, which looks healthy until you notice the number never changes. The chain's own website also still presents it as an active part of the ecosystem.
The important separation to make is between the chain and the token. DEGEN exists on Base as an ordinary token, trading normally, entirely unaffected by what happened to the chain that shared its name. For most people that is where their holdings are and where their history is, so importing a Base wallet captures nearly everything.
What is not recoverable is anything left on Degen Chain itself when it stopped. Whether that counts as a loss you can claim depends on your country's treatment of assets that have become inaccessible, and often on being able to show what you paid for them. Keeping your DEGEN position intact
The token on Base carries on normally. Importing your Base wallet captures most people's DEGEN activity regardless of what happened to the chain.
Accounting for assets left on the chain
Anything still on Degen Chain when it stopped is not retrievable. That is a worthlessness question rather than a sale.
Recording tips as income
DEGEN was built around tipping. Tips received were income at the value on the day, and that value is the cost for any later sale.

Stranded assets are not a disposal
Assets on a chain that stopped were not sold or exchanged. Whether you can claim a loss depends on where you file and usually on showing the asset has no value. The rules vary enough that it is worth asking rather than assuming.
DEGEN on Base is unaffected
The token continues to exist and trade on Base. If that is where your holdings are, nothing about the chain shutting down changes your position.
Tips received were income
Being tipped in DEGEN is receiving an asset, valued on the day it arrived. That remains true whatever later happened to the chain it happened on.
You still need what you paid
Any treatment works from your original cost, which now lives in exchange statements and whatever you saved while the chain was running.
Read-only by design.
- A file upload is read-only. Nothing connects to your account
- Kryptos never asks for your password or login details
- Delete an import at any time and its data goes with it
- Keep the original file: it is your evidence if anyone asks later
If something doesn't sync.
The chain has stopped producing blocks. Some endpoints still answer with the last block they saw, which makes it look alive, but nothing new is being added.
Check Base rather than Degen Chain. The token lives on Base and is unaffected.
