Withhold crypto tax at source.
Austria first, built to travel.
Austrian providers have to withhold 27.5% KESt on crypto gains and remit it to the Finanzamt. Kryptos does the hard part: it decides what's a taxable disposal, values it on the moving-average basis the law requires, withholds the right amount, and files it. Your users get Endbesteuerung and never touch a return.
Austrian KESt at 27.5%. Moving-average cost basis. Endbesteuerung for your users.
From a swap to a remitted tax.
Withholding runs on the same data layer as your CARF and DAC8 reporting. One ingest, both obligations, no second integration.
Every disposal, classified
Crypto-to-crypto swaps are tax-neutral in Austria; crypto-to-fiat and payments realise a gain. Kryptos tells them apart per transaction, so you withhold on what's actually taxable and nothing else.
Moving-average cost basis
Austrian law requires the gleitender Durchschnittspreis, not FIFO. We recompute the running average on every acquisition, per asset, so each gain is measured the way the Finanzamt expects.
The right KESt, at the right moment
The special 27.5% rate applied to the realised gain, at the second of disposal, in euro. Current income like staking rewards is handled on its own footing.
Endbesteuerung, delivered
Withhold at source and the tax is final: your users don't declare their crypto gains at all. That's the difference between a provider people stay with and one they leave at tax time.
Remittance and reporting
Kryptos produces the KESt return and the per-user figures on the cadence the authority sets, so the money and the paperwork reach the Finanzamt on time, every period.
One layer with CARF and DAC8
The same reconciled feed that files your CARF and DAC8 reports drives withholding. You integrate once and cover both, instead of standing up a second stack.
We'll run the KESt logic on your own data and show the numbers end to end.

What CASP tax teams ask.
Who has to withhold KESt on crypto in Austria?
Domestic service providers, the inländische Dienstleister, have had to withhold 27.5% KESt on realised crypto gains since 1 January 2024. If you hold Austrian users and settle their disposals, the obligation is yours.
What is Endbesteuerung and why does it matter?
When tax is withheld at source it's final: the user's crypto gains are settled and they don't declare them in an annual return. It removes the single biggest reason customers churn at tax time, so it's a retention feature as much as a compliance one.
Are crypto-to-crypto swaps taxed?
No. Since the 2022 reform, swapping one crypto asset for another is tax-neutral in Austria; only disposals to fiat, goods or services realise a gain. Kryptos applies that treatment automatically, so you never withhold on a swap.
Which cost-basis method do you use?
The moving-average price, the gleitender Durchschnittspreis, which Austria mandates for crypto. We keep a running per-asset average across acquisitions so every realised gain is valued correctly.
Do you support Germany or foreign providers?
Germany is discussing a similar regime, and we're building for it as the rules firm up rather than asserting a rate today. Foreign providers can't grant Endbesteuerung, so their Austrian users still self-declare; we cover that path too.
