zkSync Era is a network built on top of Ethereum for cheaper transactions, settled back to Ethereum with cryptographic proofs. Your address looks the same as on Ethereum and the familiar wallets work.
Fees are normally paid in ETH, which you bring over from Ethereum. ZK, the network's own token, is for voting rather than for fees.
Two things here catch tools out. Fees don't have to be paid in ETH: apps can let you pay in another token, or cover the fee for you entirely. And your wallet on this network can be a smart contract rather than a plain address, which changes what your history looks like.
What you get out of the box
Pick your import method.
On zkSync Era
- Open the wallet you use for zkSync Era. MetaMask and most others work.
- Copy your wallet address. It's the same one you use on Ethereum.
On Kryptos
- Go to Kryptos.io and sign up with your Google account.
- From the menu, click Integrations.
- Click Add Integration and search for zkSync Era.
- Click the zkSync Era icon, then choose Import using Address.
- Give the wallet a name, paste your address, and click Import Your Transactions.
Why fees here need a second look
On most networks the fee question is simple: you paid some ETH, it's a cost, and it attaches to whatever transaction it paid for. zkSync Era doesn't work that way.
Apps on this network can charge you in a token other than ETH, or cover the fee themselves so you pay nothing. Both are normal here. Both look identical to a tool that expects every fee to be ETH, and both get recorded wrong: one invents a cost you never paid, the other misses a token that genuinely left your wallet.

Apps on this network can charge the fee in a token other than ETH, or sponsor it so you pay nothing at all. Tools that assume every fee is ETH either mis-value the cost or record one that never happened.
Smart wallets read correctly
Wallets here can be smart contracts rather than plain addresses, which is normal on this network and unusual elsewhere. Your history is read the same either way.
Bridging counted once
A token bridged from Ethereum always gets a different address here. Same holding, different contract, and it needs pairing rather than counting twice.
Audit-ready, automatically.
Once your wallets and exchanges are connected, generating a tax report takes a single click. Open Reports from the menu, choose your jurisdiction, and download.
Bridging isn't a sale
Your asset is held on Ethereum and a matching one created here. You own it throughout, so the halves pair rather than reading as a sale and a repurchase.
Withdrawals wait, then need claiming
Coming back to Ethereum takes a built-in delay and then a second transaction to finish. Until that's submitted the money sits in between and looks missing.
A sponsored fee is not a free trade
If an app covered your fee, there's no cost of yours to add. If you paid in a token other than ETH, that token left your wallet and the cost is real. The two look similar and are not the same.
The airdrop is income at claim
ZK arrived through a claim. In most countries that's income at the value on the day you claimed it, which then becomes your cost for future gains.
Read-only by design.
- Kryptos only ever needs your public wallet address
- A public address is read-only. It can't move or spend anything
- We never ask for your recovery phrase or private key
- Remove a wallet whenever you like, and its data goes with it
If something doesn't sync.
Fees on this network aren't always ETH, and are sometimes paid by the app rather than by you. Check what left your wallet.
Tokens bridged from Ethereum always have a different address here. Add both wallets so the two sides match.
There's a waiting period before it can be finished, and then a second transaction on Ethereum to complete it.
