The SafePal X1 is a hardware wallet that pairs to the SafePal app over Bluetooth. The keys stay on the device, and the app gives you balances, history, swaps, staking and access to outside apps.
That split matters when you go looking for your history. The device signs; the app is where things happened. And because the app also handles software-only wallets and SafePal's other hardware models, one person can easily have several unrelated wallets sitting side by side in the same app.
The other thing worth saying plainly: a hardware wallet is not a reason to assume nothing needs reporting. Swaps, staking and app activity all settle to addresses the X1 holds, and they are all taxable events.
What you get out of the box
Pick your import method.
On SafePal
- Open the SafePal app and choose the wallet backed by your X1.
- Copy the address for each network you hold assets on. Ethereum-style networks share one address; Bitcoin, Solana, TRON and the others have their own.
- If the app also holds software-only wallets or an older SafePal device, those are separate wallets with separate addresses. Add them too.
On Kryptos
- Go to Kryptos.io and sign up with your Google account.
- From the menu, click Integrations.
- Click Add Integration and search for SafePal X1.
- Click the SafePal X1 icon, then choose Import using Address.
- Give the wallet a name, paste your address, and click Import Your Transactions.
What the device does and what the app does
The X1 holds your keys and signs transactions. It does not show you a history, because that is the app's job.
So when you go looking for what you did, you are looking in the SafePal app, or on the blockchain itself. And because the app can hold several wallets at once, hardware-backed and software-only together, being sure which one you are looking at matters more here than with a simpler wallet.
The mistake worth avoiding is treating a hardware wallet as a place where nothing happens. It signs swaps, it stakes, it connects to apps, and every one of those settles on a public network under your name. For how disposals and staking income are treated where you file, see the USA crypto tax guide or the UK crypto tax guide.

Hardware wallets are not idle
The X1 signs transactions for swaps, staking and apps. Everything that settles to its addresses is as reportable as activity anywhere else.
Several wallets in one app
The SafePal app can hold X1-backed wallets, older device wallets and software-only ones at the same time. Each has its own addresses and its own history.
Staking income kept separate
Rewards earned through the app are income when they arrive, not part of a later sale.
Audit-ready, automatically.
Once your wallets and exchanges are connected, generating a tax report takes a single click. Open Reports from the menu, choose your jurisdiction, and download.
Cold storage is about keys, not activity
Holding keys on a device protects them. It does not mean nothing happened. Every swap, stake and app interaction is still a reportable event.
Staking rewards are income
Rewards count at the value they had on the day you received them, which then becomes the cost you measure against later.
Token rewards start a new holding
Airdrops and reward tokens arrive as income and become their own asset with its own cost, separate from whatever earned them.
SafePal is not an exchange account
The company has exchange backers and investors, but the wallet is self-custody. Your keys, your addresses, and no exchange record sitting behind it.
Read-only by design.
- Kryptos only ever needs your public wallet address
- A public address is read-only. It can't move or spend anything
- We never ask for your recovery phrase or private key
- Remove a wallet whenever you like, and its data goes with it
If something doesn't sync.
Copy the address from each network you hold assets on. Ethereum-style networks share one, but the others do not.
The app can hold hardware-backed and software-only wallets together. Each is separate and each needs adding.
It signs whatever you asked it to. Swaps, staking and app activity all settle to its addresses.
