Polygon zkEVM has been shut down. The network stopped producing blocks on 3 July 2026, and the usual bridge no longer processes withdrawals.
If you held assets there, they aren't gone, but getting them back takes a deliberate step and there's a deadline. Polygon runs a claims page where you sign your own transaction and receive the assets on Ethereum. It stays open until 31 December 2027, after which it's retired.
One important limit: this only covers assets you held in your own wallet. Anything sitting inside a smart contract when the network stopped, such as a liquidity position, cannot be recovered this way. For those you have to approach whoever ran the protocol.
What you get out of the box

Pick your import method.
Recovering your assets
- Go to the Polygon zkEVM claims page at zkevm-claims.polygon.technology and connect the wallet that held the assets.
- Sign and submit the claim yourself. Polygon never takes custody of your funds at any point.
- Your assets arrive on Ethereum. Do this before 31 December 2027, when the claims page closes for good.
On Kryptos
- Go to Kryptos.io and sign up with your Google account.
- From the menu, click Integrations.
- Click Add Integration and search for Polygon zkEVM.
- Click the Polygon zkEVM icon, then choose Import using Address.
- Give the wallet a name, paste your address, and click Import Your Transactions.
What the shutdown means for your report
A network closing doesn't erase the years you traded on it. Your Polygon zkEVM trades still count for the tax years they happened in, and the cost of what you held there still matters.
What's new is the claim. When you recover assets they land on Ethereum, and to anything looking at Ethereum alone that's a pile of tokens appearing out of nowhere. It isn't income and it isn't a purchase. It's the same holding you already had, in a new place, carrying the same original cost.
The harder question is anything left inside a contract, which the claims page can't reach. That may be a loss you can claim, though the rules differ by country and usually turn on whether the asset is genuinely unrecoverable. The USA crypto tax guide and the UK crypto tax guide cover how losses are treated in each.

History that doesn't disappear
The network is frozen, but your activity on it still belongs in your report for the years you were trading. Kryptos keeps that history rather than dropping a chain that stopped responding.
A claim that isn't free money
Recovering assets puts them on Ethereum, which looks like a windfall arriving from nowhere unless it's matched to what you already had. It's the same holding in a new place.
Stranded positions identified
Anything inside a contract at shutdown can't come back through the claims page. Knowing what's stuck, and what it cost you, is the starting point for claiming a loss.
Audit-ready, automatically.
Once your wallets and exchanges are connected, generating a tax report takes a single click. Open Reports from the menu, choose your jurisdiction, and download.
Recovering is not acquiring
The claim moves assets you already owned onto Ethereum. It isn't a purchase and it isn't income, so your original cost carries across rather than resetting.
Stranded assets may be a loss
Holdings locked in a contract when the network stopped may be unrecoverable. In many countries that can be claimed as a loss, but the rules vary and usually require showing the asset is genuinely gone rather than merely illiquid.
The deadline is real
The claims page closes on 31 December 2027. Assets not claimed by then are a different and much harder conversation, so treat the date as the one that matters.
Read-only by design.
- Kryptos only ever needs your public wallet address
- A public address is read-only. It can't move or spend anything
- We never ask for your recovery phrase or private key
- Remove a wallet whenever you like, and its data goes with it
If something doesn't sync.
The network stopped producing blocks on 3 July 2026. Nothing moves on the chain itself any more. Use the claims page to bring assets to Ethereum instead.
It only covers assets held in your own wallet. Anything inside a contract has to be pursued with whoever ran that protocol.
That's the recovery claim. Add both your Polygon zkEVM history and your Ethereum wallet so the two match up as one holding rather than a windfall.
