kroma

Kroma shut down on 30 June 2025. Its network, explorer and documentation are all gone, and the project warned at the time that funds could not be guaranteed after that date.

KRO moved to Ethereum, where it still exists as an ordinary token. If you migrated it, that is where to look.

So this page is about records rather than connections.

What you get out of the box

KRO holdings on Ethereum after the migration
Historical Kroma records you exported
Exchange purchases and sales
Manual entries where no export exists

Pick your import method.

Before you start

  1. Add your Ethereum wallet. KRO was migrated there and that is where any remaining position sits.
  2. Gather anything you saved from Kroma itself: exports, exchange statements, and records of what you paid.

On Kryptos

  1. Log in to Kryptos.
  2. Go to Integrations.
  3. Click Add Integration, then search for and select Kroma.
  4. Click the Kroma icon and choose Upload CSV.
  5. Upload the file. Kryptos reads it and categorises the transactions for you.

Good to know

  • Withdrawal deadlines passed in June 2025. Staked assets and validator positions had to be unwound before then.
  • Gas on Kroma was paid in ETH, not in KRO.
  • Anything left on the chain after the shutdown is very unlikely to be recoverable.

What closed, and what survived

Kroma announced its shutdown in 2025 and set staged deadlines: staked assets, NFTs and validator positions had to be withdrawn by mid-June, KRO had to be moved to Ethereum by late June, and the network itself stopped on 30 June 2025.

The project was direct that funds retrieval could not be guaranteed afterwards, which is more warning than several other closures gave. Every documented endpoint is now gone from the internet's records entirely.

What survived is the token. KRO exists on Ethereum as an ordinary token, so anyone who migrated has a continuing position there rather than a loss. That migration was not a sale: the same holding moved, so the price you originally paid carries through.

For anything left behind, the position is worse and depends on where you file. Some countries allow a claim for assets that have become worthless or inaccessible, usually requiring evidence. See the USA crypto tax guide or the UK crypto tax guide.

Carrying KRO cost across the migration

KRO moved to Ethereum rather than being replaced. The price you originally paid should follow it.

Accounting for assets left behind

Anything not withdrawn before the deadlines is stranded on a chain that no longer runs.

Recording the unwind

Unstaking and bridging out before the deadline were transfers of your own assets, not sales.

Audit-ready, automatically.

Once your wallets and exchanges are connected, generating a tax report takes a single click. Open Reports from the menu, choose your jurisdiction, and download.

The KRO migration was not a sale

Moving KRO to Ethereum continued the same holding rather than disposing of it, so the original cost carries through.

The forced unwind was still an event

Being told to unstake and withdraw by a deadline does not change what happened. Each step has a date and belongs in that tax year, even though none of them was a sale.

Stranded assets are a loss question

Assets left after 30 June 2025 are effectively unrecoverable. Whether that is deductible depends on where you file and on evidencing what you paid.

Gas was in ETH

Kroma charged fees in ETH rather than in its own token, so old fee records are ETH disposals.

Read-only by design.

  • A file upload is read-only. Nothing connects to your account
  • Kryptos never asks for your password or login details
  • Delete an import at any time and its data goes with it
  • Keep the original file: it is your evidence if anyone asks later

If something doesn't sync.

My wallet will not connect

The network was shut down in June 2025 and its endpoints no longer exist.

My KRO is missing

Check Ethereum rather than Kroma. KRO was migrated there.

I missed the withdrawal deadline

Assets left on the chain are very unlikely to be recoverable. Gather what you can showing what you held and what you paid.
