IDEX is gone. Its address now redirects to a site for a different product, its documentation has been taken down, and the exchange itself went offline in early 2025. The business was acquired in 2026 and its technology relaunched under another name.
There is a harder problem than the closure. IDEX matched trades off chain, which means your trading was never written to a blockchain in the first place.
So importing your wallet will not find it, and there is no longer anywhere to export it from.
What you get out of the box
Pick your import method.
What you can still recover
- Import the wallet you used. It will show your deposit into IDEX and your withdrawal back out, which is the outline of what happened.
- Find any export you took before the exchange went offline in early 2025. That is the only complete record of your trades.
- Check old emails for trade confirmations and any statements you were sent.
On Kryptos
- Log in to Kryptos.
- Go to Integrations.
- Click Add Integration, then search for and select IDEX.
- Click the IDEX icon and choose Upload CSV.
- Upload the file. Kryptos reads it and categorises the transactions for you.
Good to know
- Your individual trades never touched a blockchain, so a wallet import cannot show them.
- What the chain does show is the deposit in and the withdrawal out.
- The exchange went offline in early 2025 and its documentation is gone, so there is no export route left.
Why your wallet does not know you traded
This is the part that surprises people, and it is worth understanding because it applies well beyond IDEX.
There are two ways an exchange without custody can work. It can settle every trade on the blockchain, in which case each one is public and permanent and can be read back years later. Or it can match orders on its own systems and only settle the net result on chain, which is much faster and much cheaper.
IDEX did the second. You deposited into its contract, traded against an order book running on its servers, and withdrew when you were done. The blockchain recorded the deposit and the withdrawal. Everything in between, every fill and every gain and loss, existed only in the exchange's own database.
That was fine while the exchange was running, because you could log in and export it. It stopped being fine when the client went offline in early 2025, the documentation came down, and the business was folded into something else. The database is not reachable and there is no interface left to ask.
So if you traded on IDEX and never exported, the position is genuinely difficult. What you can still establish is the outline: your wallet shows what you deposited and what you eventually withdrew, and the difference between the two is real evidence of how the trading went, even without the individual transactions.
It is also worth searching old email, since trade confirmations and statements were often sent out and may still be sitting in an inbox. For how to handle incomplete records where you file, see the USA crypto tax guide or the UK crypto tax guide.

Understanding why your trades are missing
They were matched off chain. A wallet import only ever sees what settled on chain, which was the deposit and the withdrawal.
Working from what did settle on chain
The difference between what you put in and what you took out evidences the net result, even without the individual trades.
Using an old export
Anyone who exported before early 2025 has the complete record. That file is now the only source.
Audit-ready, automatically.
Once your wallets and exchanges are connected, generating a tax report takes a single click. Open Reports from the menu, choose your jurisdiction, and download.
An address import cannot find these trades
IDEX matched orders off chain and settled positions on chain. So the blockchain records the money going in and the money coming out, and nothing in between. Every disposal, gain and loss from your trading is absent from a wallet import, not because the import failed but because it was never there.
The deposit and withdrawal still tell you something
What you sent in and what you took out bracket the whole episode. If you cannot reconstruct individual trades, that difference is evidence of the net outcome and is better than nothing.
The export route has closed
The web client went offline in early 2025 and the documentation has been removed. Anything not saved beforehand is very likely unrecoverable.
Assets left on the exchange are a separate question
If a balance was still there when it went offline, that is a loss question rather than a trading one, and it depends on where you file.
Read-only by design.
- A file upload is read-only. Nothing connects to your account
- Kryptos never asks for your password or login details
- Delete an import at any time and its data goes with it
- Keep the original file: it is your evidence if anyone asks later
If something doesn't sync.
It cannot. Trades were matched off chain, so only your deposit and withdrawal appear on the blockchain.
IDEX was rebranded and then acquired. The redirect goes to the successor product rather than to anything of yours.
Not from IDEX. The client went offline in early 2025 and the documentation is gone.
