Crypto.com runs two retail products that look like one brand, and getting them mixed up is the most common reason a Crypto.com tax report comes out wrong.
The app is the mobile product: buying and selling, Earn, and the prepaid card. The exchange is a separate account with its own login, carrying the order book and the derivatives markets. They hold different activity and connect in different ways, so if you've used both, you need both.
The exchange offers a read-only key you can paste into Kryptos. The app has no key, so its history comes in as a file you export. Full steps for each below.
What you get out of the box
Pick your import method.
On the Crypto.com exchange
- Log in and go to Profile, then Manage Account, then API Management.
- Choose Create a new API key and give it a name you'll recognise, such as Kryptos.
- Enter your two-factor code when prompted.
- Leave the permissions alone. New keys are set to Can Read only, which is exactly what you want. Do not switch on Enable Trading or Enable Withdrawal.
- Copy the key and the secret straight away. The secret is shown once and can't be recovered afterwards.
On Kryptos
- Go to Kryptos.io and sign up with your Google account.
- From the menu, click Integrations.
- Click Add Integration and search for Crypto.com.
- Choose Import using API Keys, paste your key and secret, then click Import Your Transactions.
- To pull a specific date range instead of everything, open Advanced Options before importing.
Good to know
- The app and the exchange are separate accounts. A key from one won't see the other.
- The app has no key at all. Export its history from the app instead, under the transaction history screen, and note that card activity exports separately from the card tab.
- Exchange exports cover up to one month for wallet transactions and up to six months for everything else, and history only goes back to 1 November 2022.
- If you use sub-accounts on the exchange, each one needs its own key.
- Earn rewards pay out every seven days in the same coin you allocated, so a year of Earn is roughly 52 separate income events per asset.
Why one connection isn't enough
Most exchanges are one account with one history. Crypto.com isn't. The app and the exchange are separate products with separate logins, and your activity is split across them by which one you happened to use.
Broadly, buying, Earn and the card sit in the app. Order book trading and derivatives sit on the exchange. Only the exchange offers a key, so the app side comes in as an export instead.
Connect one and the report looks complete while missing a year of Earn payouts and every bit of card cashback, all of which are income. For how rewards are treated where you file, see the USA crypto tax guide or the UK crypto tax guide.

Both halves of your Crypto.com history
The app and the exchange hold different activity and export differently. Connect one and your report is missing whatever happened on the other, usually the Earn rewards and the card cashback.
Rewards counted as income, not as trades
Earn pays out weekly, CRO lockup rewards pay daily, and the card pays after each purchase. Each one is income at the value it had when it landed. That's a lot of small events, and adding them by hand isn't realistic.
Funding on perps kept separate
Holding a perpetual generates funding every hour, in one direction or the other, separately from what you make or lose closing the position. They're different events and belong on different lines.
Audit-ready, automatically.
Once your wallets and exchanges are connected, generating a tax report takes a single click. Open Reports from the menu, choose your jurisdiction, and download.
Earn rewards are income when they land
Payouts arrive every seven days in the same coin you allocated. Each is income at its value that day, and that value becomes the cost you measure against when you eventually sell.
Card cashback is income too
Cashback arrives after each eligible purchase. It's small and frequent, which makes it easy to leave out and awkward to reconstruct later.
Funding is not a fee
On perpetuals, funding is a payment between traders on opposite sides, not something the exchange charges you. Treating it as a fee understates both your income and your costs.
Old exchange history may need a different route
Self-serve exports only reach back to 1 November 2022. If you traded before that, you'll need to ask support for the earlier records rather than assuming the export is complete.
Read-only by design.
- Create the key with read permission only, never withdrawal
- A read-only key can see your history but can't move funds
- Kryptos never asks for your password or login details
- Revoke the key on the exchange at any time and the connection stops
If something doesn't sync.
Those live in the app, not the exchange. An exchange key can't see them. Export the app history separately, and remember card activity exports from its own tab.
Exchange exports are capped by date range and by row count. Pull several smaller ranges rather than one big one.
Keys are per sub-account. Create one for each and add them all.
