OAuth Import Manual Import

Bevm

BEVM has been renamed GEB. It is the same network with the same identity and the same addresses, under a new name, and the two tokens exchange one for one.

The network still produces blocks and gas is still paid in BTC, but almost nobody uses it. There is no measurable lending or trading activity on it at all.

If your records still say BEVM, they are describing this chain.

What you get out of the box

BTC transfers and gas
Holdings under both the old and new token names
The bitcoin mapping used for staking
Staking positions and rewards
Movements between the chain's two environments
Connect Bevm

Pick your import method.

On GEB

  1. Open your wallet and copy your address. It starts with 0x.
  2. The chain also has a second environment with its own address format. Moving between the two leaves records on both.

On Kryptos

  1. Go to Kryptos.io and sign up with your Google account.
  2. From the menu, click Integrations.
  3. Click Add Integration and search for GEB.
  4. Click the GEB icon, then choose Import using Address.
  5. Give the wallet a name, paste your address, and click Import Your Transactions.

Good to know

  • BEVM and GEB are the same network. Old endpoints still work and return the same chain.
  • The two tokens exchange one for one, so a renamed holding is not a new one.
  • There is essentially no activity here. Do not expect to find lending or liquidity positions.

A rename that splits your history in two

BEVM is now GEB. The chain did not change, the network identity did not change, and the old endpoints still answer and return exactly the same chain. Only the name changed, and the two tokens exchange one for one.

Nothing about that is a taxable event. You held the same asset before and after, so the cost you paid carries straight through and your holding period continues.

The risk is entirely in the record keeping. A tool that identifies assets by their ticker sees one symbol disappear and another appear, and has two ways to handle it, both wrong. It can drop the old position, losing whatever you paid for it. Or it can treat the new name as a separate acquisition, in which case you appear to own both, and the new one has no cost at all.

The second is the more expensive mistake, because a holding with no recorded cost looks like pure profit when you sell it. Anyone whose records span the rename should check which of the two happened. For how renames and migrations are treated where you file, see the USA crypto tax guide or the UK crypto tax guide.

One honest note about the chain itself: it produces blocks but sees almost no use. There is no measurable lending or trading on it. If you are looking for positions to import, you are unlikely to find any beyond your own balance.

Reconciling records that say BEVM

Anything labelled BEVM refers to this chain. It is one continuous history under two names, not two positions.

Mapping bitcoin in for staking

The bitcoin stays under your control and what you receive cannot be transferred, which is a stronger argument for a non-event than most routes of this kind.

Moving between the chain's two environments

The same asset can sit in two address formats on one network. Moving between them is a transfer, not a trade.

Audit-ready, automatically.

Once your wallets and exchanges are connected, generating a tax report takes a single click. Open Reports from the menu, choose your jurisdiction, and download.

The rename was not a taxable event

BEVM became GEB and the tokens exchange one for one. You held the same thing before and after, so your original cost carries through and there is nothing to report from the rename itself.

Ticker-based matching will get this wrong

A tool keyed on the symbol alone will either lose the old position or count the two names as separate holdings. Neither is right; it is one continuous position.

The bitcoin mapping is unusually favourable

What you receive for mapping bitcoin in cannot be transferred and exists only for staking, while the bitcoin stays under your own control. Non-transferability is a strong argument that nothing was disposed of.

There is a second chain with a similar name

A separate test-style network exists alongside this one. Activity there is not activity here.

Read-only by design.

  • Kryptos only ever needs your public wallet address
  • A public address is read-only. It can't move or spend anything
  • We never ask for your recovery phrase or private key
  • Remove a wallet whenever you like, and its data goes with it

If something doesn't sync.

My BEVM tokens show as GEB

That is the rename. Same holding, same chain, new name. Your original purchase price carries across.

My old endpoint still works

It does. Both the old and new addresses point at the same network, which is why the rename is easy to miss.

I cannot find any applications

There are effectively none. The chain produces blocks but has almost no usage.
