Unichain

Unichain is the Ethereum layer 2 built by Uniswap Labs. It uses the same address format as Ethereum, and fees are paid in ETH.

Almost everything on it is Uniswap. Around four fifths of the value on the chain sits in Uniswap pools, so if you are here, you are probably trading or providing liquidity.

That makes one detail worth knowing: Uniswap V4 liquidity positions behave differently from the pool tokens older exchanges hand out.

What you get out of the box

ETH and token transfers on Unichain
Swaps on Uniswap V4 and V3
Liquidity positions held as NFTs
Fee collections from those positions
Lending on Euler, Morpho and Compound
Bridge movements to and from Ethereum

On Unichain

  1. Open your wallet and copy your address. It starts with 0x and matches your Ethereum address.

On Kryptos

  1. Go to Kryptos.io and sign up with your Google account.
  2. From the menu, click Integrations.

Good to know

  • Liquidity positions here are NFTs, not balances. You will not see a pool token amount in your wallet.
  • Fees you have earned sit uncollected until you collect them, so your position can be worth more than it appears.
  • Tokens bridged to Unichain are separate contracts from the Ethereum originals.

Liquidity positions that are not balances

If your mental model of providing liquidity comes from older exchanges, Uniswap V4 will not match it, and your records will show the gap.

The old model was simple. You deposited two assets, received pool tokens, and those tokens sat in your wallet as a number that grew as fees accumulated. Any tool could read the balance and value it.

V4 works differently. Your position covers a chosen price range, so it is not interchangeable with anyone else's, and it is held as an NFT rather than as a balance. Look for a pool token amount and you will find nothing.

Fees behave differently too. They accumulate inside the position rather than being added to a balance, and they stay there until you send a separate transaction to collect them. Someone who has provided liquidity for a year and never collected has earned real money that has never appeared anywhere in their wallet.

There is one more wrinkle. When the price moves outside your chosen range, your position stops earning and becomes entirely one asset instead of two. Withdrawing then returns a different mix than you put in, which can be a disposal even though you only meant to close a position. For how disposals are treated where you file, see the USA crypto tax guide or the UK crypto tax guide.

Providing liquidity on Uniswap V4

Your position is an NFT covering a price range rather than a balance of pool tokens. Opening, adjusting and closing it are separate events with different consequences.

Collecting fees you have already earned

Fees accrue inside the position and stay there until you collect them. The collection is a separate transaction, and until it happens the earnings are invisible in your wallet balance.

Bridging in from Ethereum

Moving assets across is a transfer between wallets you own. Import both sides so it pairs up instead of reading as a sale.

Collecting fees is when the earnings land

Fees build up inside a liquidity position without appearing in your balance. Most people treat the collection as the receipt, which is also the only date the chain gives you to work from.

A liquidity position is not a token balance

V4 positions are NFTs covering a price range. Tools that look for a pool token balance will find nothing and report you as having no position at all.

Adjusting a position can be a disposal

Moving your price range or withdrawing part of a position returns assets in different proportions than you put in. That shift can be a taxable event even though it feels like an adjustment.

Gas is an ETH disposal

Fees are paid in ETH. Individually they are small, and across an active year of trading they are a real total.

Lecture seule par conception.

  • Kryptos only ever needs your public wallet address
  • A public address is read-only. It can't move or spend anything
  • We never ask for your recovery phrase or private key
  • Remove a wallet whenever you like, and its data goes with it

Si la synchronisation échoue.

My liquidity position is missing

V4 positions are held as NFTs rather than as pool token balances. Kryptos reads them from the chain, so re-sync if one has not appeared.

My fee earnings look too low

Uncollected fees stay inside the position. They show up when you collect them, so a position you have never collected from will look like it earned nothing.

A bridge transfer reads as a sale

Add your Ethereum wallet as well. Both legs need to be present for Kryptos to pair them as a transfer.
