Kraken Wallet

Kraken Wallet is a self-custody wallet from Kraken. You hold the keys, and it covers Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Dogecoin and a set of Ethereum-style networks including Base, Arbitrum, Optimism and Polygon.

The most important thing about it is what it is not. Kraken says it plainly: the wallet and the exchange are separate platforms, and they do not hold the same assets. Connecting your Kraken exchange account does not bring in your Kraken Wallet activity, and the reverse is equally true.

So if you use both, Kryptos needs both, and the transfers between them need matching or they read as money appearing and disappearing.

What you get out of the box

Bitcoin, Solana and Dogecoin balances and transfers
Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon and the rest
Tokens on the supported networks
NFT mints and trades where the network supports them
Transfers between the wallet and your Kraken exchange account
Several wallets in one app, each added separately

Choisissez votre méthode d'import.

On Kraken Wallet

  1. Open the app and copy the address for each network you hold assets on.
  2. Your Ethereum-style networks share one address. Bitcoin, Solana and Dogecoin each have their own.
  3. If you set up more than one wallet in the app, each has its own separate set of addresses. Copy them all.
  4. Connect your Kraken exchange account separately. The two are different platforms and neither covers the other.

On Kryptos

  1. Go to Kryptos.io and sign up with your Google account.
  2. From the menu, click Integrations.
  3. Click Add Integration and search for Kraken Wallet.
  4. Click the Kraken Wallet icon, then choose Import using Address.
  5. Give the wallet a name, paste your address, and click Import Your Transactions.

Same name, two different things

Kraken runs an exchange and, separately, a self-custody wallet. They share a brand and almost nothing else.

On the exchange, Kraken holds your assets and keeps a record of everything you did. In the wallet you hold your own keys and the record is the blockchain. Kraken says outright that the two are separate platforms supporting different assets.

The practical consequence is that neither export covers the other. Someone who connects their exchange account and stops has a report missing every swap, every app they used and every on-chain transfer. Add both, and the movements between them stop looking like unexplained gains. For how disposals are treated where you file, see the USA crypto tax guide or the UK crypto tax guide.

Two Krakens, two histories

The exchange and the wallet are separate platforms with separate records. Export one and the other is missing entirely, which is the most common mistake with this pairing.

Transfers that reconcile

Moving crypto from the exchange to the wallet is a transfer between your own accounts. With only one side connected it looks like a disposal on one and free money on the other.

Multiple wallets kept apart

The app can hold several unrelated wallets under different recovery phrases. Each has its own addresses and its own history.

Moving to your own wallet is not a sale

Withdrawing from the Kraken exchange into Kraken Wallet keeps the assets yours. It is a transfer, and it only reads as a disposal if the receiving side is missing.

The wallet holds different assets from the exchange

Kraken states the two support different assets, so do not assume anything on one is available on the other. That also means neither history is a substitute for the other.

On-chain activity is yours to report

Anything you did through the wallet with an outside app is a transaction on a public network, and it counts the same as if you had done it anywhere else.

Lecture seule par conception.

  • Kryptos only ever needs your public wallet address
  • A public address is read-only. It can't move or spend anything
  • We never ask for your recovery phrase or private key
  • Remove a wallet whenever you like, and its data goes with it

Si la synchronisation échoue.

My exchange trades are not here

Kraken Wallet and the Kraken exchange are separate platforms. Add the exchange as its own connection.

A withdrawal has no matching deposit

Add both sides. A transfer from the exchange to the wallet needs the exchange history and the wallet address to pair up.

Only some networks show activity

Copy the address from each network in the app. Your Ethereum-style networks share one, but Bitcoin, Solana and Dogecoin do not.
