Chiliz

Chiliz is the network behind fan tokens, the club tokens used for voting and rewards in sport. It uses the same address format as Ethereum and fees are paid in CHZ.

Fan tokens have moved twice. Once in 2023, when the network was replaced, and again through 2025 and 2026, when every token was reissued at a new contract address.

Both moves look like selling everything and buying it back. Neither was, and treating them as sales would invent a tax bill that should not exist.

Choisissez votre méthode d'import.

On Chiliz

  1. Open your wallet and copy your address. It starts with 0x.
  2. If you hold fan tokens inside the Socios app rather than your own wallet, add that account too. Tokens held there are not on your wallet address.

On Kryptos

  1. Go to Kryptos.io and sign up with your Google account.
  2. From the menu, click Integrations.
  3. Click Add Integration and search for Chiliz.
  4. Click the Chiliz icon, then choose Import using Address.
  5. Give the wallet a name, paste your address, and click Import Your Transactions.

Good to know

  • Fan tokens were reissued at new contract addresses. The old balance was destroyed and the same amount reissued, which is a swap of paperwork rather than a sale.
  • The same fan token can exist on more than one network. Adding each one separately without noticing can double your holdings.
  • Staking rewards are added to your stake automatically, so there is no claim transaction to point at.

The migration that looks like selling everything

If you hold fan tokens, this is the most important thing on this page, and getting it wrong is expensive in a way most record-keeping errors are not.

Fan tokens were reissued. Every one of them, club by club, across 2025 and into 2026. The old token was replaced by a new token at a different contract address, and at the same time the tokens became divisible: previously you could only hold whole units, and now you can hold fractions.

The mechanism is what causes the trouble. When you migrate, your entire balance of the old token is destroyed and the same quantity of the new one is issued to you. On chain that is a burn followed by a mint against a different contract. To any tool reading transactions literally, it is indistinguishable from selling your whole position and buying an identical one back the same second.

Economically, nothing happened. You held the same thing before and after, in the same amount, representing the same club. No money changed hands and you had no opportunity to profit. In most countries that means your original cost carries across and there is no disposal to report.

Booked wrongly, the damage is real: every unrealised gain you had on every fan token would be treated as realised, in a year when you did nothing but click a button on a migration portal. And because the tokens changed decimals at the same time, a naive import can also show your quantity changing by an enormous factor, which looks like an error and is not.

There is a second, earlier migration to know about. In 2023 the whole network was replaced, and fan tokens moved chains and contract addresses then too. So anyone holding since before 2023 has two contract changes in their history, neither of them a sale. For how token migrations are treated where you file, see the USA crypto tax guide or the UK crypto tax guide.

Where your fan tokens live

Fan tokens are unusual in being bought mostly inside an app rather than on an exchange or a decentralised market. That affects what you need to import.

Tokens bought in Socios may sit in an account there rather than at your own wallet address, in which case importing your wallet will not find them. Moving them out to your own wallet later is a transfer of your own property, not a purchase, and pricing it as an acquisition would lose whatever you originally paid.

The same fan token can also exist on more than one network. A club's token might be issued on Chiliz and also on other chains, at different contract addresses. They are separate holdings if you own both and the same holding written twice if you do not check, so it is worth being deliberate about which ones you hold.

Getting the fan token migrations right

Both migrations destroyed your old tokens and issued the same quantity at a new address. Read literally, that is a full disposal. Economically nothing happened.

Tracking tokens held in Socios

Fan tokens bought in the app may sit in an account rather than in your own wallet. Withdrawing them to your wallet is a transfer, not a purchase.

Staking CHZ

Rewards compound into the stake with no transaction of their own, so the position grows without any visible income.

The migrations were not sales

Each migration burned your holding and reissued the same quantity at a new contract. You owned the same thing before and after, so it should carry your original cost rather than restarting it.

Reading a migration literally is expensive

On chain it looks like disposing of every fan token you own and immediately buying them back. Left uncorrected, that would realise every unrealised gain you had, in a year you did nothing.

Compounded staking rewards are still income

CHZ rewards are added to your stake automatically. No claim transaction exists, but the value was still received before it was reinvested.

Unstaking takes several days and two steps

You unstake, wait out a cooldown, then claim separately. Those are records of your own money returning, not disposals.

Lecture seule par conception.

  • Kryptos only ever needs your public wallet address
  • A public address is read-only. It can't move or spend anything
  • We never ask for your recovery phrase or private key
  • Remove a wallet whenever you like, and its data goes with it

Si la synchronisation échoue.

My fan tokens look like they were all sold

That is the migration. Your old tokens were burned and the same amount reissued at a new contract address. Kryptos carries the original cost across rather than booking a sale.

My fan token quantity changed by a huge factor

Fan tokens used to be whole units only and can now be held in fractions. The amount you own did not change; the way it is written did.

My staking rewards are missing

They compound into your stake rather than being paid out, so there is no reward transaction. The growth is in the staked balance.
