Babylon lets you stake bitcoin without handing it over to anyone or converting it into something else. Your BTC stays on Bitcoin, under your own keys, locked by the Bitcoin network itself until you choose to unlock it.
The rewards work differently from the stake. They're paid in BABY, a separate token on Babylon's own network, so you end up with a position on two chains at once: the bitcoin doing the work, and the rewards it earns.
This design creates one specific problem for portfolio tools. When you stake, your bitcoin moves to a locked address that doesn't look like yours. To anything that doesn't recognise it, that reads as sending your bitcoin to a stranger. It isn't. You still own it, and recording it as a sale would create a tax bill you don't owe.
What you get out of the box
Choisissez votre méthode d'import.
On Babylon
- Open your Babylon wallet, such as Keplr or Leap, and copy the address. This covers your BABY and the rewards you've earned.
- Now copy the Bitcoin address you staked from. Your bitcoin never left Bitcoin, so the stake itself lives there.
- Add both. With only the Babylon address, Kryptos sees your rewards but not the bitcoin earning them.
On Kryptos
- Go to Kryptos.io and sign up with your Google account.
- From the menu, click Integrations.
- Click Add Integration and search for Babylon.
- Click the Babylon icon, then choose Import using Address.
- Give the wallet a name, paste your address, and click Import Your Transactions.
Why Babylon needs two addresses
Most staking happens in one place. Babylon splits it across two: your bitcoin stays on Bitcoin, locked and still yours, while the rewards it earns are paid on Babylon's own network in a different token.
So one address isn't enough. Give Kryptos only the Babylon side and you'll see rewards appearing from nothing. Give it only the Bitcoin side and you'll see bitcoin that looks like it left. Add both and the position makes sense. For how staking income is treated where you file, see the USA crypto tax guide or the UK crypto tax guide.
Generating your report
Once your wallets are connected, open Reports from the menu, choose what you need and download it. Kryptos applies the rules for the country you've set.

A stake that isn't a sale
Your bitcoin moves to a locked address that doesn't look like yours, which reads as sending it away to anything that doesn't know better. Recording that as a sale creates a gain you never made.
Two chains, one position
The stake sits on Bitcoin and the rewards sit on Babylon's network. Track one and you see either bitcoin doing nothing or rewards from nowhere.
Rewards in a different coin
You stake bitcoin and get paid in BABY. Those are different assets, so the reward needs its own value on the day rather than being folded into what your bitcoin cost you.

Staking bitcoin is not a sale
Your bitcoin never leaves Bitcoin and never becomes a different token, so there's nothing sold and nothing bought. If it shows as sold on the day you staked, that's wrong, and expensively so: it creates a gain that didn't happen.
Rewards arrive as a different asset
Bitcoin stakers are paid in BABY. That's income at what it was worth when you received it, with its own cost attached, entirely separate from your bitcoin.
The airdrop had no claim step
BABY was sent straight to wallets rather than claimed, so there's no obvious moment in your own history to point at. It still needs a value putting on it.
Penalties are a real loss
If the validator you staked with misbehaves, you lose part of what you staked. On the BABY side that's 5%, with the rest returned. On the bitcoin side it can be more. Either way you lost it without choosing to.
Lecture seule par conception.
- Kryptos only ever needs your public addresses, both of them
- A public address is read-only. It can't move or spend anything
- Your staked bitcoin stays locked by the Bitcoin network, not by us
- We never ask for your recovery phrase or private key
Si la synchronisation échoue.
Add your Bitcoin address as well. The staked bitcoin sits on Bitcoin, not on Babylon's network, so the Babylon address alone shows rewards with nothing earning them.
That's the staking address. The bitcoin is still under your keys, locked by the Bitcoin network rather than held by a company, and it shouldn't be recorded as a sale.
Then you hold that service's token instead, and it's tracked through them. That's a different question from staking directly, and worth keeping separate in your records.
