Zora

Zora is two things that share a name, and knowing which one you used decides what you need to import.

There is Zora Network, an Ethereum layer 2 built for minting and trading NFTs cheaply. And there is the Zora app, where posts and profiles become tradeable coins. The coins run on Base, not on Zora Network.

Most people who say they use Zora mean the app, so their activity is on Base. Both use the same address format as Ethereum.

What you get out of the box

NFT mints, sales and creator royalties on Zora Network
Creator coin and content coin trades on Base
Tokens received for creating a coin
Trading fee income paid to creators and referrers
Mint rewards earned by creators and collectors
Bridge movements to and from Ethereum

Elige tu método de importación.

On Zora

  1. Open your wallet and copy your address. It starts with 0x and reads the same as your Ethereum address.
  2. Add it as a Base wallet as well. Creator coins and content coins trade on Base, so that is where most Zora activity sits.

On Kryptos

  1. Go to Kryptos.io and sign up with your Google account.
  2. From the menu, click Integrations.
  3. Click Add Integration and search for Zora.
  4. Click the Zora icon, then choose Import using Address.
  5. Give the wallet a name, paste your address, and click Import Your Transactions.

Good to know

  • Zora coins trade on Base. Importing only Zora Network will miss them.
  • Creating a coin gives you tokens. That is a receipt, not just a listing, and part of a creator coin releases over five years.
  • Creators earn a share of trading fees on their own coins, which arrives as a stream of small payments rather than one lump.

Which Zora do you mean?

This is the question that decides whether your import works, and almost nobody asks it.

Zora Network is a layer 2 that launched in 2023 for cheap NFT minting. It still runs, and if you minted art there in 2023 or 2024 your activity is on it.

The Zora app is the thing most people mean today: profiles and posts that become tradeable coins. It runs on Base. So does the ZORA token itself. If you have been trading creator coins or content coins, none of that is on Zora Network, and importing only Zora Network would show you an almost empty wallet.

The safe move is to add your address on both. It is the same address either way, and whichever one you used will fill in. Our Base integration covers the side where the coins live.

One honest note about Zora Network: it has very little lending or trading activity on it. It is a minting chain. If you are hunting for liquidity positions there, you almost certainly do not have any.

Being paid by a protocol rather than a person

Most crypto income has a counterparty you can name. Zora's does not, and that makes it easy to overlook.

Create a coin and you are allocated tokens: ten million of a content coin outright, or half a creator coin's supply released across five years. You did not buy them, so they have no purchase price. They are income at the value when they become yours, and that value then becomes the cost you measure a future sale against.

Then there is the fee share. Every trade of your coin takes a small fee and splits it between creator, referrer, protocol and liquidity. Your portion arrives automatically, from a contract, in amounts too small to notice individually. A coin that trades actively can produce thousands of these in a year. Nobody reconstructs that by hand.

Mint rewards on Zora Network work the same way, paying creators, collectors and referrers per mint. All of it is income at the value received. For how that is treated where you file, see the USA crypto tax guide or the UK crypto tax guide.

Earning from your own coin

Creators receive a share of the fee on every trade of their coin. It arrives from a contract rather than from a buyer, in many small amounts, and it is income.

Creating a coin and receiving tokens

Launching a coin allocates tokens to you. Some arrive immediately and, for creator coins, a large share releases gradually over five years.

Minting and collecting NFTs

Mints on Zora Network pay rewards to creators, collectors and referrers. Those payments are income on top of whatever the NFT itself is worth.

Fee income is income

A share of trading fees on your coin is money earned from other people's activity, valued when it arrives. Frequent small amounts still add up to a reportable figure.

Tokens released over time are received over time

A creator coin releases half its supply to the creator across five years. In most countries you receive each portion when it becomes yours to use, not all at once at launch.

Mint rewards are separate from the NFT

Rewards paid for minting are income at the value received. They are not part of what the NFT cost you and should not be netted against it.

A content coin trade can involve two tokens

Content coins are backed by the creator's coin, so buying one may route through two assets. What felt like a single purchase can be two disposals underneath.

My Zora coins are not showing up

They trade on Base rather than on Zora Network. Add your address as a Base wallet and they will appear.

Small payments keep arriving from a contract

That is the creator fee share on trades of your coin. It is income, and Kryptos values each payment on the day it landed.

My coin launch shows no cost

Tokens you received for creating a coin were not bought, so there is no purchase price. They are income at the value when you received them, and that value becomes your cost afterwards.
