Bittensor

Bittensor pays you in a way that doesn't look like a payment. Emission arrives continuously and compounds straight into your stake, and whether it counts as mining or staking depends on what your neurons actually do. A plain balance check misses most of it.

Kryptos reads your coldkey and rebuilds what a tax report needs: what you staked and when, what each subnet paid you, and which of it was mining rather than validating. Every subnet is covered, not a shortlist of the large ones.

What you get out of the box

TAO deposits, withdrawals and transfers
dTAO staking and unstaking, recorded as TAO to alpha trades
Every subnet on the network, each alpha token tracked as its own asset
Staking rewards per subnet, booked daily
Mining income from miner neurons your coldkey registered
Stake transfers and subnet to subnet swaps
Transaction fees and neuron registration burns

On Bittensor

  1. Open your Bittensor wallet. Talisman, Polkadot.js and the btcli wallet all work.
  2. Copy your coldkey address. It's the SS58 one, starting with 5.
  3. Use the coldkey, not a hotkey. Stake you've delegated to any hotkey is picked up from the coldkey.

On Kryptos

  1. Go to Kryptos.io and sign in, or create a free account.
  2. From the menu, click Integrations.
  3. Click Add Integration and search for Bittensor.
  4. Click the Bittensor icon, then choose Import using Address.
  5. Name the wallet, paste your coldkey address, and click Import Your Transactions.

Subnets and alpha

Since dTAO, staking into a subnet is a swap. TAO goes in, that subnet's alpha token comes back, and your position is denominated in alpha rather than TAO. Kryptos records both legs at the price they executed at, and tracks each subnet's alpha separately, named SN followed by the subnet's netuid.

That separation matters when you file. Alpha from one subnet isn't interchangeable with alpha from another, so netting them would hide gains on the subnets that performed. Alpha balances are priced from each subnet's CoinMarketCap listing, so a subnet that isn't listed yet shows a balance with no value against it.

Mining or staking

Emission on miner neurons your coldkey registered is booked as mining income. Emission on validators, your own or ones you delegate to, is booked as staking rewards. Where a day's split can't be proven from chain data it goes down as staking rewards. Activity from before Bittensor finney, meaning the nakamoto and kusanagi networks up to 20 March 2023, isn't separated.

Bittensor reports alongside every other account you connect. See the rest of the connectors on the integrations page, or how reporting works in crypto tax software.

One key covers every delegation

Spreading stake across validators is normal here. Add the coldkey and the stake behind each of your hotkeys comes with it, so you aren't tracking delegations one at a time.

All subnets, not the popular ones

If you stake into or run neurons on many subnets, each alpha position is tracked separately. Nothing is dropped because a subnet is small or new.

Miner income that reads as income

Emission from your own miner neurons is earnings, not a balance change. It comes through labelled as mining, with a value for each day it was earned.

Rewards compound, so they're dated daily

Bittensor emission compounds into your stake on chain instead of arriving as separate payments. Kryptos books it once a day at the end of each UTC day, so every subnet gets a dated income figure rather than a balance that climbs with nothing behind it.

Mining and staking are separate income

Emission on miner neurons your coldkey registered is booked as mining. Emission on validators, yours or ones you delegate to, is booked as staking rewards. A day whose split can't be proven from chain data goes down as staking rewards.

Staking into a subnet is a trade

Under dTAO, TAO in and alpha out is a disposal of the TAO. Both legs are valued at the price they executed at, so the gain or loss on what you staked is recorded rather than deferred.

Each subnet stands on its own

Alpha from one subnet isn't the same asset as alpha from another. Each is tracked as SN followed by its netuid, so gains and losses stay attached to the subnet that produced them.

Solo lectura por diseño.

  • Kryptos only ever needs your public coldkey address
  • A public address is read-only. It can't move or spend anything
  • We never ask for your recovery phrase or private key
  • Remove a wallet whenever you like, and its data goes with it

Si algo no sincroniza.

I added a hotkey and nothing came through

Add the coldkey instead. It's the SS58 address starting with 5, and the stake delegated to each of your hotkeys is read from it.

A subnet's alpha balance shows no value

Alpha is priced from each subnet's CoinMarketCap listing. A subnet that isn't listed has no price to apply, so the balance appears without a value.

Mining and staking look merged in older history

History from before Bittensor finney, the nakamoto and kusanagi networks up to 20 March 2023, isn't split into mining and staking.
