Plume

Plume is a network built for real-world assets: tokenised treasuries, credit funds and property rather than crypto-native tokens.

Your address starts with 0x and gas is paid in PLUME. The chain moved to a new network identity at some point, and gas was denominated differently before that, so older records may not look like newer ones.

The most important thing on this page is not technical. Much of what people hold here may not be taxed as crypto at all.

What you get out of the box

PLUME transfers and gas
Tokenised treasury and credit fund holdings
Distributions and interest received
Lending on Morpho and other markets
Vault positions
Bridge movements to and from Ethereum

Good to know

  • Several of the largest holdings here are tokenised funds and credit instruments, which many countries tax as securities.
  • Instruments that pay interest or distributions produce ordinary income, which is treated differently from a capital gain.
  • Some holdings are restricted, so you may hold something you cannot freely sell.

Why this chain may not be a crypto tax problem at all

Almost everything else in this catalogue is crypto: tokens whose treatment follows whatever rules your country has written for crypto assets. Plume is different, and the difference is worth taking seriously before you file.

The largest holdings on this chain are tokenised versions of conventional financial instruments: short-term government debt, private credit funds, structured products from established asset managers. A token representing a share in a treasury fund is, in substance, a share in a treasury fund. The wrapper is new; the thing inside it is not.

In most countries that means securities rules rather than crypto rules. Those can differ on the rate applied, on how losses offset gains, on which form you report them, and on rules about repurchasing something you have just sold. Run them through a general crypto calculation and the answer can be wrong in ways that are not obvious from looking at it.

There is a second difference. Many of these instruments pay you: interest on debt, distributions from a fund. That is ordinary income, taxed differently from a gain on a sale, and it may not look like anything on chain. Where the return is reflected in the instrument's value rather than paid out, there is no payment to find, only a number that grows.

And some holdings are restricted to approved investors, so you can be holding something you are not free to sell, which affects both its value and how it is treated.

None of this makes the chain harder to import. It makes the output something worth showing to an accountant rather than filing directly. See the USA crypto tax guide or the UK crypto tax guide for the crypto side, and take the tokenised securities separately.

Holding tokenised funds and treasuries

These are financial instruments in token form. In many countries they follow securities rules rather than crypto rules, which changes the rate and the paperwork.

Receiving distributions

Interest and distributions are ordinary income rather than capital gains, and they may arrive as payments or be reflected in the token's value.

Reconciling history across the chain's move

Plume changed network identity, and fees were denominated differently before the change. Older transactions may not match newer assumptions.

These may be securities, not crypto

Tokenised funds, treasuries and credit instruments are usually securities in substance. Most countries tax those under different rules from crypto, sometimes at different rates and on different forms. A general crypto calculation can get this materially wrong, and it is worth professional advice.

Distributions are income, not gains

Interest and fund distributions are ordinary income when received. Where the return is reflected in the token's value rather than paid out, there may be nothing on chain marking it at all.

Restricted holdings may not be freely disposable

Some instruments here are limited to approved holders. If you cannot sell something to anyone, its valuation and its treatment can both differ from a freely traded token.

The chain's move changed the fee asset

Fees were denominated differently before the network moved to its current identity. Historical fee records may be in a different asset from current ones.

Solo lectura por diseño.

  • Kryptos only ever needs your public wallet address
  • A public address is read-only. It can't move or spend anything
  • We never ask for your recovery phrase or private key
  • Remove a wallet whenever you like, and its data goes with it

My holding is not behaving like a normal token

Many assets here are tokenised financial instruments with transfer restrictions and scheduled distributions. That is expected.

My returns do not appear as transactions

Some instruments reflect their return in the token's value rather than paying it out, so nothing arrives in your wallet.

My older transactions look inconsistent

Plume moved to a new network identity and fees were denominated differently beforehand.
