OkCoin

OKCoin is being retired. Its parent announced the brand would be wound down in favour of OKX, and trading has been switched off in its markets in stages.

Balances are moving to OKX rather than being sold, so the migration itself is not a taxable event.

The practical advice on this page is short and worth acting on: export your history before you finish migrating.

What you get out of the box

Spot trades from your OKCoin history
Deposits and withdrawals
Staking and earn rewards
Later activity on OKX

Elige tu método de importación.

Before you migrate

  1. Log in to OKCoin while you still can and export your full transaction history.
  2. Save it somewhere outside the platform. Do not rely on being able to retrieve it later.
  3. Then import it, along with your OKX account for anything after the move.

On Kryptos

  1. Log in to Kryptos.
  2. Go to Integrations.
  3. Click Add Integration, then search for and select OKCoin.
  4. Click the OKCoin icon and choose Upload CSV.
  5. Upload the file. Kryptos reads it and categorises the transactions for you.

Good to know

  • The migration moves balances between products run by the same company. Nothing is sold.
  • Whether OKCoin-era history remains reachable after migrating is not something we can confirm, so export first.
  • Balances were consolidated between account types during the move, which can look like transfers in an import.

Export first, ask questions later

This page has one piece of advice and it has a deadline attached, so it goes first: if you have an OKCoin account with history you care about, export it now.

OKCoin is being retired in favour of OKX, its sibling platform. Balances move across, and because both are run by the same company with you owning the assets throughout, the migration is not a sale. Nothing is realised and your original costs carry through.

The uncertainty is not about your money, it is about your records. We could not establish where OKCoin-era transaction history ends up once migration completes, or for how long it stays retrievable. The published guidance does not say, and we are not going to guess at something that determines whether you can file accurately.

What we can say is that exporting today, while the platform still responds, costs nothing and settles the matter. Save the file somewhere that is not the platform.

One thing to watch when you do import it. During the migration, balances were consolidated between different account types, and those internal movements can appear in an export looking like transfers. They are not trades and nothing was disposed of. For how migrations are treated where you file, see the USA crypto tax guide or the UK crypto tax guide.

Exporting before the door closes

History from a retired platform is easiest to get while the platform still works.

Carrying cost across the migration

Balances moved without being sold, so the price you originally paid still applies.

Joining two platforms into one history

Your record now spans OKCoin and OKX, and both halves are needed for a complete picture.

The migration is not a disposal

Balances moving between products run by the same company, with you owning them throughout, does not sell anything. Your original cost carries across.

Internal consolidation is not trading

During the move, balances were shifted between account types. Those movements can appear in an export and are not trades, so counting them would invent activity.

Export before migrating, not after

We cannot confirm where OKCoin-era history lives once the migration completes, and published guidance does not say. Getting your file while the platform still works removes the question.

Your history now spans two platforms

A complete record needs the OKCoin export and the OKX account, with the transition point in between.

Solo lectura por diseño.

  • A file upload is read-only. Nothing connects to your account
  • Kryptos never asks for your password or login details
  • Delete an import at any time and its data goes with it
  • Keep the original file: it is your evidence if anyone asks later

Si algo no sincroniza.

I cannot trade any more

Trading has been switched off as part of the wind-down. Balances move to OKX.

Where is my old history?

Export it from OKCoin while you can. Whether it follows you to OKX is not something we can confirm.

My export shows transfers I did not make

Balances were consolidated between account types during the migration. Those are internal movements, not trades.
