Newdex

Newdex is gone. Its address now serves a parked domain page, the kind that appears when a domain is for sale, with no exchange behind it at all.

But it was a decentralised exchange, and that changes everything about recovering your history. Your trades happened on a blockchain rather than inside a company's database.

So unlike a failed custodial exchange, the records survive.

What you get out of the box

Trades made through the exchange, read from the chain
Token transfers in and out of your account
Fees and network costs
Any tokens still held in the account

Recovering your history

  1. Find the account name you used on EOS. That is where your trading happened.
  2. Import it. The trades, transfers and fees are all recorded there and can be read back.

On Kryptos

  1. Go to Kryptos.io and sign up with your Google account.
  2. From the menu, click Integrations.
  3. Click Add Integration and search for Newdex.
  4. Click the Newdex icon, then choose Import using Address.
  5. Give the wallet a name, paste your address, and click Import Your Transactions.

Good to know

  • Because trading happened on chain, closing the website did not delete your history.
  • Your EOS account name is what you need, not a login for the exchange.
  • Any tokens still in your account are still yours, because they were never held by the exchange.

Why a dead exchange still has your history

There is a real difference between what happens when a custodial exchange closes and what happens when a decentralised one does, and Newdex is a good illustration of the better case.

When a custodial exchange dies, your trading history dies with it. The trades happened inside the company's own systems, visible to nobody else, and when those systems go offline the record goes too. All you retain are the deposits and withdrawals, because those touched a blockchain.

Newdex settled trades on chain. Every fill, every transfer and every fee was written to a public ledger that is still running and still holds all of it. The company is gone and its domain is parked, but none of that touched the record.

The same applies to your assets. A decentralised exchange does not take custody, so tokens stayed in your own account throughout. If you never moved them, they are still there, under your control, unaffected by the site disappearing.

What you need is your account name on the network rather than any login. With that, the trades can be read back years later, complete with what each one exchanged, which is exactly what a cost calculation needs. For how trades are treated where you file, see the USA crypto tax guide or the UK crypto tax guide.

Recovering trades from a closed exchange

Because settlement happened on chain, the trades are still recorded and readable years later.

Checking what is still in your account

A decentralised exchange never held your tokens, so anything left is still under your control.

Establishing costs from years ago

The on-chain record includes what each trade exchanged, which is what a cost calculation needs.

A dead exchange does not mean lost records

Because trading settled on chain, the history survives the company. This is a real advantage over custodial exchanges that close, where the trading record disappears with them.

Your tokens were never held by the exchange

Trading on chain means the assets stayed in your own account throughout. Nothing was stranded when the site went away.

Each trade was a disposal

Exchanging one token for another sells the first, and every fill on the exchange was such an exchange.

Network costs were real spending

Using the network consumed resources you paid for, which is part of the cost of trading there.

Solo lectura por diseño.

  • Kryptos only ever needs your public wallet address
  • A public address is read-only. It can't move or spend anything
  • We never ask for your recovery phrase or private key
  • Remove a wallet whenever you like, and its data goes with it

Si algo no sincroniza.

The website is a parking page

The domain is parked and the exchange is gone. Your history is on the chain rather than on the site.

I cannot log in

There is nothing to log into. Use your account name to read the history directly.

Are my tokens lost?

Not if they were in your own account. A decentralised exchange does not hold your assets.
