eToro is a multi-asset broker, so your crypto sits in the same account as any shares, funds and other instruments you hold. That shapes everything about getting a tax report out of it.
The route in is the account statement. It downloads as a spreadsheet with separate sections for closed positions and account activity, and each row carries the asset class it belongs to. That column is what separates your crypto from everything else, so the import has to filter rather than swallow the file whole.
Two things make eToro histories bigger than people expect: copy trading, and the fact that not every crypto position is the same kind of instrument.
What you get out of the box
Elige tu método de importación.
On eToro
- Open your account statement and choose the period you need.
- Download it as a spreadsheet rather than a PDF, so the individual rows come through.
- Keep the whole file. Closed positions and account activity are separate sections and both matter.
- Anything still open at the end of the year will not be in closed positions, which is correct, but worth knowing when the totals look short.
On Kryptos
- Go to Kryptos.io and sign up with your Google account.
- From the menu, click Integrations.
- Click Add Integration and search for eToro.
- Upload the files you exported. If your API key still works, Import using API Keys pulls everything in one go instead.
- Check the imported totals against your own records before the exchange goes, while you can still look something up.
Good to know
- The statement holds every asset class together. The type column on each row is what identifies the crypto.
- Copying another investor mirrors their trades into your account, so one decision produces many separate positions.
- Not every crypto position on eToro is the same instrument. Leveraged and short positions work differently from holding the coin, and they are usually taxed differently too.
- The account is denominated in dollars whatever your own currency is, so figures need converting for your return.
- Some countries get an annual eToro tax report as well. It covers all asset classes and is informational, not a filing.
Why one decision becomes hundreds of rows
eToro's copy feature lets you mirror another investor, and it is the single biggest reason eToro exports are enormous.
When you copy someone, their trades are reproduced proportionally in your account. If they trade actively, so do you, whether or not you looked at the app that month. Each of those positions opens and closes on its own row, and every one is a disposal you are responsible for reporting.
So an account where you made one decision all year can produce a statement running to thousands of lines. That is not an error, and it does not reduce what you owe. It is what copying does, and it is why doing an eToro report by hand stops being realistic quickly. For how disposals are treated where you file, see the USA crypto tax guide or the UK crypto tax guide.

Copy trading unpacked
Copying one investor mirrors their trades proportionally into your account, so a single copy relationship can produce hundreds of small positions. Each opens and closes as its own row and each needs reporting.
Crypto separated from everything else
Shares, funds and crypto share one statement. Your crypto report should contain crypto, which means filtering by the asset type rather than importing the file wholesale.
Positions still open at year end
Closed positions are their own section, so anything you were still holding on 31 December is not in it. That is correct, and it is also why the totals can look lower than you expect.

Not every crypto position is the same instrument
Holding the coin and taking a leveraged or short position on its price are different things, and most countries tax them under different rules. Worth confirming which kind each of your positions was before treating them all as disposals.
Overnight charges are costs, not disposals
Leveraged and short positions accrue charges for as long as they are open. Those are costs against the position rather than sales of anything.
Copy trading does not change who owes the tax
Positions opened by copying someone else are still your positions. Every mirrored trade is yours to report.
The dollar account needs converting
Balances and figures are in dollars regardless of where you file, so gains have to be converted into your own currency using the right rate for the date.

The statement holds every asset class. Filter on the type column so only the crypto rows come through.
That is usually copy trading. Each mirrored position opens and closes separately, so one copy relationship becomes many rows.
Positions still open at the end of the period are not in the closed positions section. They are not missing, they are still open.
