X Layer is the network built and run by OKX. It uses the same address format as Ethereum, so one paste covers your position.
Fees are paid in OKB, the OKX exchange token, rather than in ETH. Every transaction is a small OKB disposal.
The thing that catches people out is how money arrives. Most X Layer users get their funds straight from OKX, which skips the bridge entirely and leaves nothing on chain to explain where the money came from.
What you get out of the box
So importierst du.
On X Layer
- Open your wallet and copy your address. It starts with 0x and matches your Ethereum address.
- Add your OKX account too. Most deposits here come straight from the exchange with no bridge transaction to match against.
On Kryptos
- Go to Kryptos.io and sign up with your Google account.
- From the menu, click Integrations.
- Click Add Integration and search for X Layer.
- Click the X Layer icon, then choose Import using Address.
- Give the wallet a name, paste your address, and click Import Your Transactions.
Good to know
- Withdrawing from OKX to X Layer does not use a bridge, so on chain your funds appear from an address you will not recognise.
- Gas is paid in OKB, not ETH. A report showing ETH fees here has read the chain with the wrong assumption.
- If you held OKT, OKX converted it to OKB automatically in August 2025. You did not choose that, and it still changed your cost.
The deposit with no bridge behind it
On most layer 2 networks, money arrives across a bridge. You lock funds on one side, they appear on the other, and both halves are visible. Import both wallets and the transfer explains itself.
X Layer is run by the exchange whose token pays for its gas, and that changes the usual route. OKX lets you withdraw straight onto X Layer, no bridge contract involved. For most users here, that is how the money got in.
On chain, all you can see is funds arriving from an address you have never seen, which happens to be an exchange wallet. There is no bridge transaction to pair it with and nothing saying where it came from. A tool with only your wallet has two options, both wrong: call it income, or leave it with no cost so the eventual sale looks like pure profit.
The fix is to import the OKX account alongside the wallet. The withdrawal on the exchange side and the deposit on the chain side then match, and the coins carry the price you originally paid. For how cost basis works where you file, see the USA crypto tax guide or the UK crypto tax guide.
The OKT conversion nobody opted into
In August 2025 OKX retired OKT. Trading stopped on the 13th, and on the 15th the exchange converted customers' OKT into OKB automatically, at a ratio set from average prices over the preceding month.
Nobody pressed a button. If you held OKT, you now hold OKB, and the swap happened inside the exchange rather than on any chain, so there is no transaction on X Layer showing it.
In most countries an involuntary swap is still a disposal. The OKT was given up, the OKB was acquired, and any gain or loss on the OKT crystallised on the conversion date whether you wanted it to or not. The OKB then starts with a cost based on the conversion, not on what you originally paid for the OKT years earlier.
The practical consequence is that your OKB cost basis is wrong if you only import the wallet, because the whole event lives in your OKX account history. Import the exchange and the chain of ownership stays intact.

Explaining deposits that came from OKX
A withdrawal from OKX to X Layer never touches a bridge, so the money appears with no explanation. Import the exchange account and the deposit pairs with your withdrawal instead of looking like unexplained income.
Sorting out the OKT conversion
OKX converted OKT into OKB automatically in August 2025 at a set ratio. It was involuntary, it happened on the exchange rather than on chain, and it reset the cost on those coins.
Lending on Aave
Aave holds more than half the real value on this chain. Supplying, borrowing and the interest each carry different treatments.

The OKT conversion was a disposal you did not choose
OKX stopped OKT trading in August 2025 and converted balances to OKB at a ratio based on prior average prices. Involuntary or not, in most countries that is a disposal of OKT and an acquisition of OKB, and the OKB starts from a fresh cost.
Deposits without a bridge still need a source
Funds arriving from OKX have no bridge record to pair with. Without the exchange account imported, they have no cost attached, and selling later can look like pure profit.
Gas is an OKB disposal
Fees leave your OKB balance, so each one is priced against OKB rather than ETH. Tools that assume every network with 0x addresses charges ETH will value these wrongly.
Yield positions split an asset in two
Pendle separates an asset into a principal part and a yield part. Each has its own cost and its own disposal, so one deposit becomes two positions to track.

It came straight from OKX without a bridge. Add your OKX account and Kryptos pairs the withdrawal with the deposit.
Check that fees show in OKB. X Layer charges gas in OKB, and a report showing ETH has read it as a standard Ethereum network.
If it came from the automatic OKT conversion, the cost was set at the conversion ratio in August 2025. Import your OKX account so the original OKT purchase is in the history too.
