World Chain is the network behind World App, the project that verifies people with an iris scan. It uses the same address format as Ethereum.
Fees are paid in ETH, not in WLD, and verified users often do not pay them at all because the network covers the cost.
The part that matters most for tax is the grants. If you claimed WLD regularly, each claim was income, and a year can hold a lot of them.

- Open World App or your wallet and copy your address. It starts with 0x.
On Kryptos
- Go to Kryptos.io and sign up with your Google account.
- From the menu, click Integrations.
- Click Add Integration and search for World Chain.
- Click the World Chain icon, then choose Import using Address.
- Give the wallet a name, paste your address, and click Import Your Transactions.
Good to know
- Every grant you claimed was income on the day you claimed it, not one lump sum at the end of the year.
- Gas is paid in ETH and is often covered for you, so many transactions show no fee leaving your balance.
- New grant cycles stopped being created in June 2026. Existing cycles continue until they run out.
Grants are income, and there are a lot of them
This is the single biggest thing to get right on World Chain, and it is the thing most people miss.
Verified users receive WLD on a repeating schedule. The amount and the cadence have both changed over the life of the programme, so a long-standing user's history may contain more than one pattern. What has not changed is the tax shape: each claim is a receipt of an asset, and in most countries that is income at the value on the day you claimed it.
That last part matters more than it sounds. WLD's price moves, and a year of claims made at a dozen different prices cannot be valued with one number. Someone who claimed every month has a dozen separate income events with a dozen different values, and each of those values also becomes the cost for that particular tranche when they eventually sell.
Get it wrong in one direction and you understate income. Get it wrong in the other and you understate your cost, then pay tax again on the same amount as a gain. Kryptos reads each claim off the chain and prices it individually.
One thing that is not income: a grant you never claimed. Grants lapse if not taken within their window, and something that lapsed was never received. And note the programme is winding down. New cycles stopped being created in June 2026, so most people's grant income tapers off and then ends. When somebody else pays your gas
Almost every crypto tax tool assumes the person sending a transaction paid for it. On World Chain that is often untrue.
Verified users get a gas allowance funded by the World Foundation, so their transactions can cost them nothing at all. The fee was paid, just not by them, and nothing leaves the user's balance.
For your records this cuts one way only: there is no cost to add. A fee you did not pay is not part of what your assets cost you, and adding one would overstate your basis and understate your gain. It also means the usual reconciliation, where balances should fall by roughly the fees paid, will not show the expected drop.

Adding up a year of grant claims
Grants arrive repeatedly rather than once, each at a different WLD price. Kryptos values each claim on its own date instead of applying one figure to the lot.
Accounting for sponsored transactions
Verified users often have their fees paid for them, so a transaction can cost you nothing. There is no fee to deduct, and imputing one would be wrong.
Collecting mini-app rewards
Apps inside World App pay out small amounts of WLD and USDC. Each is a separate receipt at the value on the day.

Each grant is income on its own date
Grants are received repeatedly across a year, and WLD moves in price between them. Every claim is income at that day's value, and that value becomes the cost you measure a later sale against.
Unclaimed grants are not income
A grant you did not claim within its window was never received. It lapsed, and there is nothing to report.
Sponsored gas is not a cost you bore
Where the network pays your fee, you spent nothing. Do not add a fee to your cost that never left your balance.
Gas is in ETH, not WLD
Where you do pay, it comes out of ETH. WLD is an ordinary token on this chain rather than the fee token.
