Poloniex Futures is still running, and so is Poloniex itself. The exchange was hacked in November 2023 and continued trading afterwards.
Futures here are perpetual contracts settled in a stablecoin, which means holding a position produces a steady stream of small funding payments in both directions.
Those, and liquidations, are what people miss. The trades themselves are the easy part.
What you get out of the box
So importierst du.
On Poloniex
- Create a read-only API key so Kryptos can pull your history without any ability to move funds.
- Or export manually: open Wallet and use Export for deposits and withdrawals, then Spot Orders, Trade History, Export for trades.
On Kryptos
- Go to Kryptos.io and sign up with your Google account.
- From the menu, click Integrations.
- Click Add Integration and search for Poloniex Futures.
- Choose Import using API Keys, paste your key and secret, then click Import Your Transactions.
- To pull a specific date range instead of everything, open Advanced Options before importing.
Good to know
- Give the key read permission only. Nothing about importing your history needs the ability to withdraw.
- The older futures interface was switched off at the end of 2024, so anything automated against it stopped working.
- The United States and its territories are blocked, along with Ontario.
The two events perpetual traders miss
Trading perpetual futures produces two kinds of event that spot trading does not, and both are easy to leave out because neither feels like a trade.
The first is funding. A perpetual contract has no expiry, so to keep its price tethered to the underlying market, holders on one side pay holders on the other at regular intervals. If you hold a position, you are receiving or paying small amounts continuously, in whichever direction the market is leaning at the time.
None of these are trades. You did not buy or sell anything. But money moved, repeatedly, and across a position held for weeks it adds up to a real figure that belongs in your records. A single position can generate hundreds of these.
The second is liquidation. If your margin runs short, the position is closed against you at whatever the market gives. That is a disposal, priced at the liquidation, and it is usually the one users least want to think about and most often omit. Being involuntary does not make it untaxable.
There is a third worth watching on this venue specifically. Poloniex has removed tokens in batches more than once, and delisting can convert a holding automatically or leave it stuck. Either way your position changed without you doing anything. For how disposals are treated where you file, see the USA crypto tax guide or the UK crypto tax guide.

Accounting for funding payments
Holding a perpetual position pays or costs you funding repeatedly. Across a year that is a long list of small amounts in both directions.
Recording a liquidation
A liquidation is a sale you did not choose to make. When a position is closed against you, the assets are disposed of at whatever price the market gave, and the gain or loss is as real as any trade you placed deliberately. It is the most commonly missed event on any venue offering leverage.
Handling a delisted token
Poloniex has removed tokens in batches. A delisting can convert or strand a holding without you doing anything.

Funding payments accumulate constantly
A perpetual position pays funding periodically, in whichever direction the market is leaning. Each is a small receipt or cost, and a position held for months produces a great many of them.
Liquidations are disposals you did not choose

Delistings can dispose of things for you
Where an exchange removes a token, holdings are sometimes converted automatically or become unwithdrawable. Either is an event you did not initiate but which affects your position.
Contracts settle in a stablecoin, not in the asset
Your profit and loss on a position arrives in a dollar-pegged token rather than in the asset you were trading. That keeps the accounting simpler than coin-settled contracts.

The older futures interface was retired at the end of 2024. Anything built against it needs moving to the current one.
Those are funding payments. A perpetual position generates them continuously.
Check whether it was delisted. Removed tokens are sometimes converted automatically.
