Fraxtal is an Ethereum layer 2 built by Frax. It uses the same address format as Ethereum, so one paste covers your position.
Gas is paid in FRAX. That sentence is more confusing than it looks, because in April 2025 Frax renamed two of its tokens and swapped what the word FRAX refers to.
If your records span that date, this is the single thing most likely to be wrong in them.
What you get out of the box
So importierst du.
On Fraxtal
- Open your wallet and copy your address. It starts with 0x and matches your Ethereum address.
On Kryptos
- Go to Kryptos.io and sign up with your Google account.
- From the menu, click Integrations.
- Click Add Integration and search for Fraxtal.
- Click the Fraxtal icon, then choose Import using Address.
- Give the wallet a name, paste your address, and click Import Your Transactions.
Good to know
- FRAX means different things before and after April 2025. Before, it was the stablecoin. After, it is the governance token that used to be called FXS.
- The stablecoin did not disappear. It was renamed frxUSD and is still the same asset.
- sfrxETH grows in value rather than in quantity, so a balance that never changes is normal and not a sign of a problem.
The rename that breaks price lookups
On 29 April 2025 Frax renamed two tokens at once, and the result is the most dangerous ticker collision we have come across. If your Frax history spans that date, read this carefully.
Before that date, FRAX was Frax's stablecoin, worth about a dollar, and FXS was the governance token, worth whatever the market said. After it, FXS was renamed FRAX and became the governance token and the gas token on this chain, while the old stablecoin was renamed frxUSD.
So the string FRAX refers to two economically unrelated assets depending on when you are looking. One is pegged to a dollar. The other is not pegged to anything.
This is not a cosmetic problem. Any tool that resolves a price by ticker without checking the date will confidently return the wrong number: a dollar for a governance token, or a governance price for a stablecoin. Nothing errors and nothing looks broken. Your cost basis is just wrong, and the size of the error is the entire gap between the two prices, on every affected line.
The renames themselves were not disposals. Both were one for one and nobody sold anything, so the original cost should carry straight through. FXS held on Ethereum did have to be moved to this chain to convert, which produces a cross-chain movement that can look like a disposal if only one side is imported.
If you are checking your own records, the quickest test is to look at any FRAX position from before April 2025 and see whether it is valued near a dollar. It should be. Then look at one from after, which should not be. For how token renames are treated where you file, see the USA crypto tax guide or the UK crypto tax guide.
Staked ETH that never changes quantity
Frax has two ETH-related tokens and only one of them earns anything, which catches people out in both directions.
frxETH is the plain one. Holding it is much like holding ETH: it tracks the price and pays you nothing. People sometimes hold it for months expecting yield that was never coming.
sfrxETH is the one that earns. You deposit frxETH and receive sfrxETH, and from then on your share of staking rewards accumulates inside the position. What it does not do is grow your balance. The number of sfrxETH you hold stays exactly the same while each one becomes redeemable for more frxETH over time.
For your records that means no income events at all while you hold, and the whole gain arriving at once when you redeem or sell. Anyone expecting daily reward entries will find none and may conclude the position did nothing.
One wrinkle: moving between frxETH and sfrxETH looks like a swap on chain, because one token goes in and a different one comes out. Economically it is a deposit into and a withdrawal from the same position, so it should carry your cost rather than realising a gain.

Getting prices right across the rename
A holding that spans April 2025 has one ticker meaning two different assets. Priced without regard to the date, a governance token gets valued at a dollar or a stablecoin gets valued at a governance price.
Staking ETH into sfrxETH
Your balance never moves while each unit becomes worth more ETH. There is no stream of rewards to record and the gain arrives on redemption.
Earning on Curve and Convex
Curve is the deepest liquidity on the chain and Convex wraps positions on top of it, so one deposit can produce two layers of receipts.

The 2025 rename was not a sale
FXS was renamed FRAX and the old FRAX stablecoin was renamed frxUSD, both one for one. Nothing was disposed of, so your original cost carries through both.
Pricing by ticker alone will be wrong
The same three letters refer to a stablecoin before April 2025 and to a governance token after it. A price lookup that ignores the date will assign roughly a dollar to a governance token, or a governance price to a stablecoin, and corrupt your basis.
sfrxETH pays nothing out
It accrues value rather than rebasing, so the balance stays fixed and the gain shows up when you redeem or sell. There is no daily income to record.
Holding frxETH alone earns nothing
Yield goes to people who stake frxETH into sfrxETH. Holding frxETH on its own is like holding ETH, so the deposit into sfrxETH is the moment earning starts.
Points are not income until they are something
Fraxtal rewards gas spending with points. Points that cannot be transferred or sold are generally not income yet. If they ever become a real token, that is the date to record.

You are being priced as the old stablecoin. After April 2025 FRAX is the governance token formerly called FXS. The stablecoin is now frxUSD.
It was renamed FRAX in April 2025, one for one. The holding is the same; only the name changed.
That is correct. It gains value rather than paying rewards, so the gain appears when you redeem.
