Flare

Flare is a network of its own that grew out of a distribution to XRP holders. If you held XRP in December 2020, you were entitled to FLR whether or not you ever collected it.

Your everyday address starts with 0x. If you stake, you also have a second address beginning P-flare1, and your staking history lives entirely on that one.

Rewards here come from several different mechanisms, on different schedules, and one of them expires if you do not collect it in time.

What you get out of the box

FLR transfers and gas
Wrapping and unwrapping FLR
Delegation rewards and their claims
Staking on the second address, including exports and imports
FlareDrop tranches received across the programme
FXRP minting and redemption
Swaps and lending on SparkDEX, Kinetic and other apps

On Flare

  1. Open your wallet and copy your address. It starts with 0x and covers your tokens, delegation and everyday activity.
  2. If you have staked, copy your staking address as well. It starts with P-flare1 and holds a history the 0x address does not show.

On Kryptos

  1. Go to Kryptos.io and sign up with your Google account.
  2. From the menu, click Integrations.
  3. Click Add Integration and search for Flare.
  4. Click the Flare icon, then choose Import using Address.
  5. Give the wallet a name, paste your address, and click Import Your Transactions.

Good to know

  • Delegation rewards expire 90 days after they accrue. Anything not collected in time is gone permanently.
  • The monthly FlareDrop distribution finished in January 2026 after running for three years.
  • Songbird and SGB are a separate network and a separate token with their own cost. Do not fold them into your FLR position.

Rewards that expire if you do not collect them

Most networks hold your staking rewards indefinitely. Flare does not, and this is the single most consequential thing to know about your Flare income.

Delegation rewards accrue every few days. They then sit waiting for you to claim, and after 90 days they are gone. Not delayed, not reduced. Forfeited permanently, and nothing can recover them.

For your tax return the consequence is precise: your income is what you claimed, not what you earned. Someone who delegated all year and claimed twice has income from two claims, and the accrued amounts that lapsed in between were never received by anyone. A figure calculated from accrual data would overstate their income, and they would pay tax on money they never got.

There is a wrinkle if you set up automatic claiming. Someone else's address then signs the claim on your behalf and takes a small fee for doing it. The claim is still yours and the income is still yours, but the amount that reached you is net of that fee, and the transaction is signed by an address you will not recognise in your own history.

Flare's other reward streams behave differently again. Staking rewards accumulate and become claimable in batches rather than continuously. For how staking income is treated where you file, see the USA crypto tax guide or the UK crypto tax guide.

Three years of monthly distributions, now finished

Flare's distribution to XRP holders was not a single airdrop. It was one initial portion followed by 36 monthly tranches, running from March 2023 to January 2026, when the programme concluded.

That shape matters. A user who thinks of it as one airdrop will try to value it at one price on one date. In reality they received a stream of payments across three years, at prices that varied enormously, and each tranche is its own receipt with its own value and its own cost going forward.

The entitlement traces back to a snapshot of XRP balances taken in December 2020, but the snapshot is not when anyone received anything. Each tranche was received when it was collected.

Anyone who held XRP back then may also hold SGB from a separate distribution in September 2021, on Songbird, which is a different network with a different token. Two entitlements from one XRP position, and they belong in two separate lines. If you are also reconstructing the XRP side, our XRP Ledger integration covers it.

Collecting three years of FlareDrops

The programme paid out monthly from 2023 to January 2026. Each tranche was a separate receipt at a different price, so 36 events rather than one.

Claiming delegation rewards before they lapse

Rewards accrue every few days and expire after 90 days. What you claimed is your income; what expired never reached you.

Minting FXRP from XRP

This moves XRP on one network and creates FXRP on another. One action, records on two chains, and the XRP side needs a tag or memo to arrive correctly.

Work from what you claimed, not what accrued

Delegation rewards vanish 90 days after accruing. Income is what reached you, so a figure built from accrual data will overstate it, sometimes badly.

Each FlareDrop tranche stands alone

The distribution ran monthly for three years. Each tranche was received on its own date at its own price, and each carries its own cost into any later sale.

Automatic claiming changes the numbers

If you let someone claim on your behalf, they take a small fee per claim. The amount you received is the net figure, and the claim is signed by an address that is not yours.

Songbird is a separate asset

SGB came from a separate distribution on a separate network. It has its own cost and its own history and should not be merged into your FLR.

Wrapping FLR is not a disposal

You have to wrap FLR before you can delegate it. That converts it one for one into a wrapped version of the same asset, so nothing was sold.

  • Kryptos only ever needs your public wallet address
  • A public address is read-only. It can't move or spend anything
  • We never ask for your recovery phrase or private key
  • Remove a wallet whenever you like, and its data goes with it

My staking history is missing

Staking lives on your second address, the one starting P-flare1. The 0x address does not show it. Add both.

My reward total is lower than I expected

Delegation rewards expire after 90 days. Anything left unclaimed past that window was forfeited and is not recoverable.

My FXRP mint never completed

The XRP side needs the tag or memo that identifies your mint. Without it the payment does not connect to your request.
