Evmos is no longer running. Its own governance voted to shut it down in May 2026, and the nodes stopped producing blocks shortly afterwards. The website and block explorer are offline.
So this page is not about connecting a wallet. There is nothing to connect to. It is about what the shutdown means for your records and how to account for a position on a chain that has closed.
One thing worth clearing up: the software Evmos built lives on in other projects. The network did not. Holders were not moved onto anything.
What you get out of the box
So importierst du.
Before you start
- Gather whatever you already have: exchange statements showing purchases, old wallet exports, and any transaction records you saved while the chain was running.
- If you bought or sold EVMOS on an exchange, that account holds the most reliable record of what you paid.
On Kryptos
- Log in to Kryptos.
- Go to Integrations.
- Click Add Integration, then search for and select Evmos.
- Click the Evmos icon and choose Upload CSV.
- Upload the file. Kryptos reads it and categorises the transactions for you.
Good to know
- The chain stopped producing blocks in May 2026. No wallet or explorer can read it now.
- Your account there had two forms, one starting evmos1 and one starting 0x. They were one wallet, so old exports showing both are not two positions.
- What holders received on shutdown, if anything, is not something we can confirm. Check with any exchange that held EVMOS for you.
What happened, and what it means for your return
In May 2026 an Evmos governance proposal to shut the network down passed with almost unanimous support, and the chain stopped producing blocks days later. This was a deliberate wind-down, not a failure or an exploit.
The confusing part is that Evmos the software did not disappear. The team's work was open-sourced and continues inside other projects. That has led to descriptions of Evmos as having become something else. It did not. A codebase carried on; the network holders had tokens on did not, and nobody was migrated anywhere.
For your records the practical problem is that the evidence is gone. You cannot query the chain, look up a transaction, or export a history. Anything you did not save while it was running is not retrievable from the network itself.
That leaves exchange records as the main source. If you bought EVMOS on an exchange, that account shows what you paid and when, which is the number any treatment depends on. The same applies if you sold before the shutdown, in which case the position was already closed and there is nothing unusual to handle.
For anyone still holding when the chain stopped, the treatment depends on where you file. Some countries let you claim a loss on an asset that has become worthless, sometimes requiring a formal disposal or evidence of worthlessness. We are not going to state a rule that varies this much by jurisdiction. See the USA crypto tax guide or the UK crypto tax guide, and take it to an accountant if the amount is material.
We also cannot tell you whether holders received anything on shutdown. We have not found a reliable statement either way, and rather than guess, the honest answer is to ask any exchange that held EVMOS on your behalf what they did with the balance.

Establishing what you paid
Cost basis for EVMOS now has to come from exchange statements or saved exports, because the chain itself cannot be queried.
Accounting for a position that ended
A holding on a closed chain may be a loss depending on where you file. Either way it needs a purchase price, which only your old records hold.
Untangling two address formats
Evmos accounts appeared as both evmos1 and 0x addresses. Old exports may show both for one wallet, and counting them separately would double the position.

A closed chain may be a loss, and the rules vary
Holding a token on a network that no longer runs is treated differently depending on your country. Some allow a claim for a worthless asset, some require a disposal, some require evidence the asset has no value. Worth asking rather than assuming.
You still need the purchase price
Whatever the treatment, it works from what you paid. That figure now exists only in exchange statements and any exports you saved, so those records matter more than usual.
Staking rewards before the shutdown were income
EVMOS rewards were claimed rather than compounded, so each claim was a receipt on its date at that day's value, and that remains true even though the chain has closed.
The two address forms were one wallet
An account showed as both evmos1 and 0x. If an old export lists both, that is one position written twice, not two.

The network is gone. No endpoint answers and no explorer is running, so there is nothing for a wallet to connect to.
The chain cannot be queried any more. Start with exchange statements, then any wallet export you saved before May 2026.
Evmos accounts had a Cosmos-style form and an Ethereum-style form. They were the same wallet, so record the position once.
