Bitstamp with Kryptos
Bitstamp is one of the longest-standing cryptocurrency exchanges, offering spot trading for major cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and others. It provides features like secure wallets, advanced charting tools, staking, and low fees. Bitstamp is known for its regulatory compliance and high security standards, making it a trusted platform for both retail and institutional traders.
With Kryptos, you can easily track your Bitstamp portfolio in real-time and gain insights into your holdings. Simply connect your Bitstamp account through API or CSV (see instructions below). Kryptos consolidates your transactions, provides a comprehensive view of your assets, and keeps your tax reporting ready in the background.
On Kryptos
- Go to Integrations, click Add Integration, and select Add Custom Wallet.
- Name and create your wallet, then click on the wallet icon.
- Select Import File, download the Kryptos Sample File, and fill it with your transaction data.
- Upload the completed file and click Import Transactions to sync.
On Kryptos
- Sign in to your Kryptos account at Kryptos.io.
- From the left menu, click on Integrations.
- In the top right corner, select Add Integration.
- Use the search bar to look for Bitstamp.
- Click on Connect to Bitstamp (ensure you’re already logged into your Bitstamp account).
- Name your wallet anything you prefer.
- Click on Connect to Bitstamp.
- On Bitstamp’s authentication page, click Accept.
- Sit back and relax while Kryptos syncs your Bitstamp account and imports all your transactions automatically.
On Bitstamp
- Log in to your Bitstamp account.
- Click on your Profile Icon and select Settings.
- In the Settings page, you will see your User ID. Copy this ID and save it.
- Set the relevant permissions for the API key. The only permissions needed by Kryptos are Account Balance and User Transactions. Make sure to disable all other permissions and avoid adding any address filters.
- At the bottom of the page, click on Enter 2FA & Submit.
- Your API Key and API Secret will be displayed. Copy these and add them to the API fields in Kryptos.
- Before using the API, click on the Activate button and confirm the activation through your email.
On Kryptos
- Sign up on Kryptos.io using your Google account.
- Go to Integrations, click on Add Integration, and select Bitstamp.
- Choose Import using API Keys, paste your API Key & Secret, and User ID and click on Import Your Transactions.
- For custom history, select Advanced Options to specify the date range.
On Bitstamp
- Log in to your Bitstamp account.
- Click on Deposit at the top of the screen.
- Click on Deposits older than 90 days.
- Click on Export.
- Enable all Transaction Types and all Currencies shown on the page.
- Select a Date Range that covers your entire transaction history on Bitstamp.
- Click on Export Selection to generate a file.
- Download the generated CSV file.
On Kryptos
- Sign up on Kryptos.io using your Google account.
- Go to Integrations, select Bitstamp, and choose Upload CSV.
- Upload the downloaded files and click on Import Your Transactions.

Once you have integrated all of your wallets and exchanges, generating tax reports is straightforward:
- Go to Reports from the main menu.
- Scroll down and you’ll see the “Reports” section.
- Choose your desired report and click on the Complete icon to download the report.
How are Bitstamp Transactions Taxed?
- Income Tax: If you earn rewards from staking, lending, or receive crypto payments, you may need to pay income tax.
- Capital Gains Tax: Profits from selling or disposing of crypto assets, such as Bitcoin or Ethereum, are typically subject to capital gains tax.
Kryptos automatically calculates these taxes based on your Bitstamp transaction data, ensuring accuracy and compliance with local regulations.
